How do you say Gil Farmer in Japanese?Follow

The Story:
My set party and I had a run in with some gil farmers in Kuftal tonight (surprise surprise). We were leveling off of Ovinniks and Greater Cockatrices in the lower section, when this party of very poorly equipped players camp right on top of us. We do a quick /sea all area and notice that (the ones not on /anon) had very low subjobs and were rank 1 and 2. We proceed to level but are on the lookout for any trouble they might cause.

They buff up, and pull a Ladon right on top of us -.- It took them a WHM death and about 15 seconds for them to decide to escape. Being the savvy players that we are, we managed to avoid the Wyvern agg that was placed in the middle of our camp. We regrouped and kept leveling.

About 20 minutes later, they come back and raise their WHM, and have another random agg death. Then as the WHM is trying to raise the other guy, he pulls agg from a cockatrice, so the rest of the party tries to fight it right on top of our party.

Long story short, they hardly half lifed the cockatrice before they started dropping left and right (how they were going to kill that Ladon when they can't even take a cockatrice is beyond me), they call for help on it (which was VERY amusing), and they try to alt-tab away, and all but one of them died. The one member logs back in and starts begging for raises for them. I (the WHM) tell him sorry, but I don't raise gil farmers, he calls me an *** about 15 times, and then runs off to find a raise.

Every WHM he'd bring back to the body pile we'd explain to them that they were gil farmers and please don't raise them because they've already pulled 2 mobs onto our camp and are likely to train us again for not raising them. The WHMs would look over the situation, decide they believe us, and would refuse to raise them.

Then they got a nice Japanese WHM >_<

We tried to explain to him to *please* not waste your MP on these players, they are gil farmers, they train people, they are generally unpleasant, they don't deserve the raise, and if you raise them, they will likely end up dead in another 20 minutes anyways, but the WHM doesn't speak a lick of English and raises their WHM.

The Point:
So... does anyone have a good enough understanding of the Japanese language as it pertains to this game to suggest a way to communicate the term "Gil farmer" or "Gil seller" to a Japanese player? I had a hard time trying to auto-translate that concept, and want to have something I can say for future reference. Thanks ^^

Here's when they pulled the cockatrice on us -.-

And here's the outcome...

I just don't understand how gil farmers make any money when all they do is die every 20 minutes *boggle*

I would have reported them, but I have this feeling that they actually *thought* they could kill those mobs, and were just sorely mistaken. Had their last standing player ran off and blatently pulled on us after we wouldn't raise them, we would have had a GM hayday, but it seemed like they actually *tried* to kill those mobs they pulled into our camp, and just failed miserably at it >_<

I still don't see how they thought they were going to be able to kill a level 80 wyvern when most of them were wearing level 30-40 gear -.-

Thanks for looking into it for me :)

rofl...I was there...just to elaborate:
their drk was wearing a bomb arm.
the 69 nin/war had a level 30 war sub. was rank 2.
none had ls pearls.
the galka whatever he was was in carapace
the whm was in a justacorp, had 0 AF and primarily 40 and below gear otherwise, the gold hairpin and justacorps being the only things above 40...
they like to spam /check, even before the mess started they were spam checking us -.-

(And I dunno how you get random agg and die in sight agg only spots...duh...)

And yeah, I have a feeling they really thought they could kill that Ladon. And then really thought they could kill that cockatrice.

This was the self-same group that stole Amemet from our set bst, too.

Was Undeadtroll with them? Because, if so, that clown was training crap to the Kuftal zone into Western Altepa about 3-4 times last week sometime. As well as a ghost. It was a general mess. Thank Altana for some random HLs that were around. It was a mess. Just a complete and total clusterfuck.

Edit: a little something to add

So last night I'm in Beadeaux attempting to get myself a Holy Phial rather than buy it. I'm there alone for a good amount of time until Bmoboss shows up. He checks me a couple times, then at one point says, "hi ni hao a" to me. I simply ignore this and go about my business. I then get a "la ji" from him and eventually a "cao ni ma". I simply ignore him, don't even reply to him, nor to I respond to his emotes to me. Ge'Dha Evileye eventually pops, and I grab it. Only got a Sneak scroll, which pissed me off a tad. I then left, because it was late and I didn't feel like wasting more of my time for another crappy drop. When I get back to Jeuno, I check and see the sale history for the Holy Phial. Sure enough, Bmoboss has sold about five of the ones stated in the history. Now, he could just be a regular player making some gil for some gear (I noticed he was a DRK, from the scythe on his back), but I was wondering if anyone knew what that crap he said to me means. lol

Not in Japanese it doesn't. I imagine the Japanese have a completely different name for "Gil Seller" so a direct translation probably won't help you.

Thats odd, whenever I log in Ghelsba, Redappleee says the same words to me.

It would be really cool if someone who reconizes this language could translate it for us. My guess is that he speaks english and is just trying to mess with us.

How funny. About two - three weeks ago I was down there with my LS in a skill up PT killing everything in the area of the Amemit pop are just for the hell of it. Then this group starts following us and we started following them telling them that we loved them and {wife} {can i have it} apparently they are all female and one of them emailed my LS leader a pic of herself (supposedly was a pic from a magazine, lol). Any way they were decent to us. One of them Jxhfm talked to me for a bit and expressed his/her hate for camping Amemit and even asked how to get the Dream Hat.

All in all a good experiance because I got my sword up to 165 ^^

Ok there are a few ways we can do this according to my translator friend...

Polite Plural: Ano hito-tachi wa gil wo urimasu
Polite Singular: Ano hito wa gil wo urimasu

Not so polite (as in reference to the sellers) plural: Aitsura wa gil wo uru yo

Not so polite (as in reference to the sellers) singular: Aitsu wa gil wo uru yo

There you go...hope that helps...

Great job, Yuki! Here's a 'lil cultural follow-up to your post:

Quote:
Not so polite (as in reference to the sellers) singular: Aitsu wa gil wo uru yo

It's better to stick with the polite speech for this.

Aitsu is used to refer to someone (usually) that you don't like. Many JP/NA Dictionaries define it as 'that damn person'. So while in English we openly say degrading things about people, justified or not, the Japanese see referring to someone with a harsh a word as this as sort of childish and therefore assume that the person who is using it is in the wrong for speaking disrespectfully about someone else.

The 'uru', as Yuki said, is also impolite but using plain verbs like that while speaking to someone who you don't know is seen as being rude to the person with whom you're talking to as well as the person you're talking about.

So stick with the:

Quote:
Polite Singular: Ano hito wa gil wo urimasu

Sorry for the cultural background but Japanese could do more harm than good if not used the proper way.

Weird language, I know ^^.
