6/6 parties I've been in had a powerleveler in the Dunes this week. The worst part is, the parties still weren't any good. >_>
I dunno, what is this, a new trend? It's weird. I'd be lying if I said I didn't appreciate the help, but with a PLer, newbies don't learn anything, and some members get lazy (like a WHM you have in your party who spams nothing but Banishga and leaves the BARD to Cure when the PL is busy...you know who you are), and parties are just so uncoordinated. Every time, they tell the tank not to provoke, to let the PLer get the hate. Which makes sense, yes, but these same people obviously have no idea how hate control works, and so then the WHM get a stray blow, or the Bard gets Screwdrivered for casting Foe Requiem. (yes, I'm the bard in these examples, and I managed to survive that Screwdriver....barely...:p)
It's frustrating. Parties think they're invincible with a PLer and don't take party setup into consideration. I got into a party with 3 THFs, a MNK, and a RDM (and me, BRD, obviously). I and one THF had a sub (and his was MNK) so no one could voke. I asked why there was no tank. "We don't need one, we have a PL." (not that well punctuated either)
It's getting frustrating that parties are now being spoiled so badly that the parties are actually suffering instead of benefiting. Again, to say that I wouldn't appreciate a PL's assitance would be a lie, but I think I may have to start declining those parties' invites. We aren't teaching newbies anything this way, and yes, although the Dunes are painful, they *do* end eventually.
I dunno, this was more of a rant than anything I guess. But it's just so weird to see all those PLers, when before, you were lucky to find even a WHM.
