Many people have the stereotype that galka MUST be WAR (tank of some sorts), mithra MUST be theif, and taru MUST be mages... as for hume and elvaan, i really dont know and never really heard of a MUST be job for you guys. i guess you are both just good at whatever you do...
But the reason for this thread was that i was pulling out the BLM, and yes, i AM galkan! Our first purpose here, let us all know what kind of progress you all make with these supposed FORBIDDEN jobs. List for us...

... please feel free to give stories on your progress as well. its always a good laugh to her about a galka WHM showing up a taru WHM in the dunes (true story, quite funny until the GM took the taru away)
And lastly, as i make very unsteady progress through the dunes as my BLM, would any of you guys be able to offer me advice. A simple PM would suffice, unless there is something you can offer to the whole group, share it here.

I have a 26 BLM and I'm Elvaan, the supposed worst race to play as a BLM. I know it's not that far, but the hurt that Elvaan feels as BLM is talked up too much. I haven't leveled him in a while, but when I did I popped melon or pumpkin pies as well as pineapple juices for chaining and used MP and INT gear sets, obviously using MP gear until my extra MP was burned and then switching to INT. Gear swapping is much simpler as a BLM than a RDM, when you're swapping gear like 15 times in a battle.
Also, I think Elvaans are born PLDs. High HP, VIT, and MND.

I play an elvaan RNG, and though we're not supposed to be bad, we're not the best race to choose. Though with the right equip, we're the best race choice, so...I dunno. o.O;;
I considered this, for Berselius, but never came through, however, I hear that Samwise is quite an impressive Taru Paladin.

****Note: i Have never ever used anything to be considered Uber musts for a Galka Mage(i.e. Astrals and such)
First of all what i had to learn to do was Conserve MP the real way. But my main Idea that has made it easier for me to lvl as well as get several repeat invites is that well if i expect a NIN or RNG to shell out 10k+(it gets a lot higher eventually) why shouldn't i do this respetively. I lvled Cooking to 30 for this. Here is my basic Setup that i have and still will use for the most part until 41 with a RDM
WHM - Roasted Mushrooms + Pineapple Juice
BLM - Pies(depends how much gil i have on me) + Pineapple Juice
SMN - Pies(at first) + Pineapple Juices
So as you can see in the trend Pineapple juices are in all of them, the reason i only lvled cooking to 30 was so that i could just carry 2-3 stacks of water crystals and 2x Pineapples for each crystal stack.
Gear i focused on for each job:
SMN/WHM - MP/MND
BLM/SMN - INT and some MP if i had the room(many think that a Galka BLM needs MP to be good but well if you have to cast Stone more than once cuz its resisted then you are wasting MP so INT is my key and it has worked.)
WHM/SMN - MND/MP
I will add more later since i have to go now.

Any race can be any job but you will just have some weaknesses. You can buy gear to help that out like they say about galka mages but if you have mp gear(like astral rings) mnd and int you can play a mage. Im a elvaan rdm55 I got mp gear so my race doesnt matter. My rng is 37 I got 2 archer knives I never miss and with the str I hit harder than a taru or mirtha. My blm is 30 I got int gear I hit harder than most tarus. So all you really need is the gear for the job.

Dragoon sucks? Naaaaah. I also got asked last night if I was half Mithra. I'm loaded with +accuracy gear, +47 to be exact. I also load down with DEX, and STR gear. (Wheeling Thrust's damage has to do with your overall STR and TP.)
You say: Elvaan? Slow delay weapon? You never hit.
