Damn Hiptaru must know something we don't know. ^^)d

Smart smart man!!

What Hiptaru knows is that thieves can no longer camp Oztroja coffers for Astral Rings. the price is expected to skyrocket.

I guess I can give up on ever having one of these.

"The contents of the treasure coffers in Castle Oztroja have been changed. Accordingly, certain items will now be obtainable through different methods."

This might also mean that prices might drop since Oz coffer aren't the only place you can get astrals anymore. Until people find out what that is however, Hiptaru's gonna be making some money. <Can I add you to my friendlist?>

What Hiptaru DOESN'T know is that Square Enix has made Astral Rings a guaranteed drop from Bubbly Bernie.

/em cackles in madness.

On the one hand, that is a very smart move financially, or at least, has a decent chance of being a very smart move.

On the other hand, its very risky, and cutthroat.

Hiptaru has a history of making gil in ways that **** off half the server (being the original, and probably best, Casino spammer out there).

I'm not surprised someone did it and I might have considered it myself if I'd had the gil handy.

But, all things considered, I hope Astral's become easier to get (I do want one or two eventually), and that Hiptaru winds up eating every gil of that 2+ mil he spent.

Well, though I admit, I would love an Astral, I got a Tabbard hunt coming up in 3 levels, and that decrease in competition is a sight for sore eyes.

I can't say I won't feel gleeful if that comes back to bite him in the ***.

He was also logged on spamming Teleport shouts in Jeuno when there were all of 150 people on the server total. It was kind of amusing. I made nice teleport money too, but there's no need to spam shout when there are only 30 people in Jeuno :P

lmao that actually got me scared for a few seconds. i was like uhh..

Ok.. I know people are pissed off about the prices, but cmon. you would have done the same thing.. Sorry i am 26 years old, and i am business minded, and like to succeed in everything i put my mind to. I am ready to accept the fact that you do not like me for my morals, and my actions.. MY actions speak for me, not my words. So once again, i know its a risky chance, but i decided to pull a bit of my stockpile out to make a investment, its just like real life, but its not..

Please just let me play my video game. i didnt go to Worlds of Warcraft, or Evercrack 2, or even City of Queerios for my beloved Final Fantasy.. I love this game, and it looks like alot of other people love this game to, so lets just move on with our lives and see what happens. People are gonna ***** no matter what, i know, but god please... lets just get over it, its just a video game, and it really doenst effect you in RL..

That being sed, i am gonna go sell my last remaining 6 Astral Rings.

I would have thought about doing the same thing.

I was thinking of taking you off my /blist because it seems like the casino thing has more or less died down. Or maybe I've /blisted all those who still do it regularly.

But this reinforces my decision. Your actions are based on a simple economic decision, hoping for a monopoly on Astral rings, with the idea that supply will be low temporarily, and demand will be high, or at least, constant.

Gil sellers make a good chunk of their profits because they create a monopoly. Gil sellers aside, a monopoly, by definition, produces deadweight loss for the economy as a whole.

Congratulations on your piles of gil.

I see from the history pic, the 2 that I had for sale have sold, maybe I should have held on to them.

When do the changes take place is the 12th or have they already happened?

There is no doubt in my mind that what you did was possibly a good business decision, though i certainly hope you get screwed over it.

FFXI is not a business, It's a game. If you like business go play SimTycoon or something and leave the rest of us to enjoy our game.

It would have been mildly annoying had you relisted them for an inflated price within reason. But to take an item worth 200-250k and relist for 1.2 mil is just greedy.

We all disliked you when you ran your casino ripping off people who didn't know better. And it actually seemed like you might not have been all bad when you were doing your raffles for items.

Oh well...

GilSellers will go away GreedyBastards will take over.

Enjoy your money.

Velfire I really dont think it is fair to put hiptaru in the same boat as the gil-sellers is really fair nor is their a comparision(spelling?) For one Hip could lose out, and be stuck with rings that only sell for 100k, Or he could get lucky and sell em all for that high price. The AH is like the stock market, you never know how much something is going to be from one day to another. I have a Astral ring and can tell you even though the extra MP are nice, is it really worth that much, to me it should maybe be worth 60k if that, but some think its the most important thing in the world to own one. Oh and one other thing, hip is not the only one selling the rings for such high prices, ive seen a couple others as well. Thats my whopping 2 cents :)

As of this morning, 7:45 am EST, there has been three astrals sold at the AH for 250K (sold date Dec 9) and two more still listed. So the market is not cornered.

*Edit: The Jeuno AH.

*Edit Part II: Yay post number 200. Go me!

Heh, I'm not concerned about astral rings, because I've never needed them. However, what I do see is good for those needing AF in that place, fewer coffer camping thieves around.

I dont really understand the situation but i see that whole point. Hiptaru you say just let you play your game? Well what your doing is completly a scam buying all rings at 250k then trying to sellf or 1 mil + bc you know theives can hunt for them?

Gazoo here...

wwwaasssssaaaaa HIPTARU !! =)

I think HIPTARU did nothing wrong...

Making money in this game takes time, kinda hard & frustrating.
(depending on the amount your going for)

I think anyone would do the samething to make money if they each had there own way & an easy way to make it, they would always do it.

/em SALUTE'S HIPTARU

Gazoo....

(hmmm.) Buy low and sell high..... It seems that this is the basic premiss of ever economics class in every high school in the country(USA). I think that what Hiptaru did was acceptable and I would have done the same had I the foresight and the gil to back the play.

The rummor now is that the rings have not been removed from coffers but just moved to the Den of Rancor(sp?)...

If this is indeed the case, they (the thiefs of Bismark) will just move to Kazham, where I don't think that any AF coffers are located.

So, Hiptaru can grief his way to millionare stautus while the new crop of astrals come into play. The market might take a bit of time to return to the "correct" price, but it will. It is a simple case of supply and demand. Hiptaru just happens to have all the supply.... and as far as I know there are no anti-trust lawyers in game.
