Well, i guess by me not having a whole lot of time to play lately, im falling behind on my FFXI news.... how many people has this glitch killed...

i was pulling Hornflies in CN, and i tried to pull 1, but it was purple, therefor it was taken, so i left it be, it was moving, so i thought it was on its way to the pt that pulled it..so..i go and pull another one, and the time i get back to camp, i have 2, both mine, and the one that was "taken" still purple as well...and they both wiped out our whole pt.....

Now is this a common problem? i have never had this or heard of this before til tonight....:(

Something similar to that happened to me before, except mine wasn't really a glitch, it was a someone who either decided to be an ***, or didn't know what he was doing.

I pulled a mob, and on the way back it went unclaimed, before I could reclaim it, someone hit it with a ranged attack, claiming it, but it would appear my Dia still had more hate... so.. it kept coming for me.

The guy who claimed it from me ran away, and the mob killed my WHM((not sure why it turned on him, prolly tossed a cure my way)) before finally going after its new claim... needless to say I was a little upset at a time.

peace,
CR

This happened to me in Beadeaux. A Dragoon jump-claimed a Quadav and it beat me to death, along with 99 of its friends as they linked up to it.

Gometank tried to exploit this bug to MPK me too, in Delkfutt's.

Simple solution: if the mob hits a player that has NOT engaged it, it goes yellow. How hard is this? ; ;

I've had stuff in a similar vein happen. I'll have targeted a monster, started attacking, it's purple, then all of a sudden I get the "Cannot attack, target has been claimed." message.

I haven't had it happen the other way around, though.

Same thing Happend to me Last Night I was in the Tree fight Crwlers(names starts with a P but i canot Remember how to spell it) anyway We pull get a link and another party there took our link. well i was the main healr at the time so i star freshing and Curing and Hasteing and all of a sudded there other crawler came up to me and starting hacking away. lol i am in say saying WTF VOKE IT which of course the other party did not. so i just stopped and the BLM took over while i survived with 23 HP. Needless to say i agree with that notion that is a mob attacks another player outside of your party or ally then it should go yellow.

I actually managed to claim a Stroper Chyme the other night due to this glitch, and in hunting Chymes I've seen it happen a couple of times - someone else gets the claim, but I'm able to attack it as if it's in my own party. Or, someone provokes it but it remains unclaimed, and I'd already hit my voke macro so I got it. Pretty weird stuff. You might want to do a GM call or e-mail them or something to let them know about it.

Valcrist's ranged attack hits Mee Deggi The Punisher for 46 damage.
Sioux starts casting Cure IV on Valcrist
Sioux casts Cure IV.
Valcrist recovers 0 HP.
Sioux starts casting Dia on Mee Deggi The Punisher.
Cannot attack.
Your target is already claimed.

CUTRISS QUIT MESSING UP MY LOGIC!!!

^^

Aw, I wouldn't do that, you can have your old Moo Deggi. ;)

But seriously, they could file NMs under a different set of rules, surely; I think there's actually a larger window of time already before an NM goes yellow while Slept, as opposed to a regular mob. I've slept mobs and had them go yellow immediately, but when I had to Sleep Juggler Hectatomb, he didn't go yellow during the time I was resting.

If someone is really determined to steal your NM this way, all he has to do is RLH (Run Like Hell), and wait for the mob to go yellow. I think one of these NMs was actually stolen that way, a long while ago.
