I am gonna start lvling smithing, and i know the guild in north sandy the shop is above the room where they have synth support. can you do /targetnpc <wutever the NPC's name is> when you are in the shop, and if you do this will you be able to get synth support by the guild shop w/o having to run downstairs. I'm gonna try when i get home.

Hmm... I think that if you don't have the NPC (or any target for that matter) in your line of sight, it won't work. Distance is 2nd in the equation.

Give it a shot anyway. I have been known to be wrong on a regular basis. ^^

You have to be able to physically look at the NPC in order to get support.
The purpose of synthesis support is per se the NPC that you get it from is helping you. If you can't see the NPC and the NPC can't see you he/she can't really help you =/
