BCNM 50 - Horalis PeakFollow

Howdy folks,

So, I've hit level 51, and I would really like to get myself an Ocean Stone. Checking the AH only made my jaw drop, as going rate for this prize is 1.2 million.

As a result, I'd like to set up a BCNM 50 run for anyone interested. I have 50 beastmen seals that I can put forward for the orb, and all I would want from it is the stone (if it drops). The rest of the loot (and/or proceeds thereof) will go to everyone else who agrees to participate in the run (which I'm told is extremely lucrative).

My problem is that I have no idea what's in store once we enter the burning circle, nor do I have a good strategy for the run itself, so I would be depending on you guys to help the party formulate a plan. The extent of my knowledge is as follows:

There are 3 sheep which need to be taken out. All people need poison potions to counteract the sheeps' sleep songs. One or 2 red mages gravity the sheep and kite 2 of them while the rest of the party focuses on taking one out. Once one sheep is down, the party pulls another from one of the red mages and eats that up. Rinse and repeat.

If any of you are interested in doing this, please reply and we'll see if we can set up a mutually conveniant time for everyone to get the ball rolling.

I am a 51 BLM/RDM. We'll obviously be going in with my orb first, but if any others want to do more runs, just bring your orbs and we'll do what we can. Any advice on optimal party formations would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks guys. I'm hoping this'll be a fun and profitable adventure for everyone involved.

You beat me!! I was going to post this exact same thing till I opened another browser on the the Bismarck Forum and saw your post. I too need something out of BCNM 50 Horlais Peak. Forest Stone, granted not as expensive as your Ocean Stone but pricey none-the-less. I too can provide an Orb for the run as well. I have no interest what so ever in any of the other items that drop aside from the Forest Stone. Please let me know if I can come.
Thanks

Zander - 56 RDM/WHM

Next! That's right folks, step up!

I wanted to do this for an ocean stone too lol. But the odds of getting two are slim to none im sure. Oh well if you need a white mage then I wouldn't mind coming along.

Wow, many responses. Alright, let's see if I can get something organized. So far, we have the following people interested:

Arondight - 51 BLM/RDM
Zander - 56 RDM/WHM
Byaina - 64 SAM/<insert subjob here>
Jefferson - 50 PLD/WAR
Yekan - 63 WHM/BLM
Ainur - 50 BRD/WHM
Sirrobin - 55 RDM/?? (pending)
Shadoween - 64 BLM/?? (pending)
Daperfectkill - 56 BLM/WHM
Mikalai - 56 BRD/WHM

Obviously, we can't take all 10 on the run, since only 6 are allowed, so let's mix and match a bit. We can do this multiple times until everyone gets a turn.

I was thinking of getting this going Thursday night, December 9th, at around 6pm eastern. Which works out to 5pm central, 4pm mountain, 3pm pacific. We'd all gather in Jeuno, gear up, and go from there.

I was thinking the following: If we can get 2 red mages, that would be ideal. If not, Zander and myself will gravity and kite 2 of the sheep while the melee and DD's wail on the 3rd. Jefferson, Byaina, and one of the black mages (Sirrobin? or Daperfectkill) can nuke/participate in skillchains. Mikalai can make sure ballads are up for MP regen and heal where necessary. Once the first sheep is dead, the one I'm kiting will be next. For two reasons. One, my gravity is weaker than Zander's, and two, now I can participate in DD as well. 2 BLM's with Ballad should make short work of the 2nd. Then we all go to town on the 3rd.

Criticisms of this strategy would be greatly appreciated, as I've never had first hand experience with this BCNM.

Please let me know if the Thursday time is good for everyone. As long as we can get 6 people with a good mix of jobs, we should be golden.

If you're coming, pleae make sure to have poison potions to counteract the sheeps' sleep song.

Hopefully we can get a group. Thanks for volunteering guys. Here's to a successful couple of runs!

Just a thought here. If we are going to be kiting the other two sheep would it benefit us to sub NIN (RDM's if they other has it) for this? Utsusemi + Stoneskin + Phalanx?
From all the information I have read there has been more success with 2 RDM's in the party usually with NIN sub.
Potentially the remaining 4 members should probably be DD's or at least 3 of them and of course the BLM/WHm combo for nuking back-up healing.
Ideally it would benefit the group as a whole if a we could grab a full fledge NIN for this as well.
I think we'd do good with a
RDM/NIN
RDM/NIN (or WHM sub)
BLM/WHM
SAM/WAR (or NIN sub)
PLD/WAR (or WHM sub)
NIN/WAR (or if possible another SAM/WAR/NIN *damn those SAM's and thier ridiculous almost unlimited TP*)

It sounds like a potentially winning setup but then again a BRD in the party would be an even greater benefit.
/sigh
So so many choices....

The problem lies in that my WHM is still level 1. Being a victim of tunnel vision, I chose to only level BLM, RDM, and THF to 15.

With 2 RDM/NIN, our party would look like this:

RDM/NIN
RDM/NIN
BLM/RDM
PLD/WAR
NIN/WAR
SAM/WAR

...or whatever other subs the SAM and NIN may want.

To counteract this, I say we kick out the NIN/WAR and replace with a BRD/WHM for healing and songs. Paladins are number one for keeping hate, so the PLD would be the tank. The SAM can just solo weapon skill until the PLD is ready, and we can then bust out a Skillchain/Magic Burst for added damage. With Ballad, I don't think the PLD needs to worry about MP (this goes for me as well ^^).

The Red Mages would then kite, while I'd debuff/nuke the engaged sheep. I can manage my own MP, and with ballad... forget about it. I'll even bring Yagudo drink as an emergency measure.

How's that sound?

I'll be taking a WAR sub. Nothing else is really useful for Samurai and you never know when you might need an extra voke.

Is Thursday night at 6pm eastern good for all the posters?

Does my strategy sound feasable?

Would you prefer another time, like over the weekend?

I may not be able to make on 6pm est thursday (I have a coffer date and not sure on the time yet). If i can make it i maybe able to make first 2 or 3 runs but that might be all. So how we splititng the loot.. I mean i know I need the forest stone and if it drops i will be happy but.. it may not drop so are we dividing the loot or sell it all and divide it among the members who help in this whole ordeal. I split money before and it turned out well. Just gotta tally all the drops.

Aye, maybe. I haven't gotten any responses either concerning conveniance and time.

So, here's what I propose:

Everyone intersted in doing this, please post your available times over this coming weekend and next week, and I'll see if I can find a time that is conveniant for the majority.

Sound good?

I'll still be on at around 6pm tonight, so if you folks want to do a run, please send me a tell. If we get enough people, we might be able to set one up.
