I was talking to one of my buddies yesterday, and we wondered why at all the guilds, the guildmasters are using stone wheels, pots, forges and the like, and we 'adventurers' are just popping off stuff with Crystals. Whe aren't the guilds using crystals?
I think one of the guilds in Sandy(can't remmeber which one) has an elvaan that gripes about the old ways...

You're absolutely right. The old crafters (ie. npcs) prefer to do things the old ways with readily accessible materials and leave the newer methods (ie. crystal synthesis) to us young pups.
If you talk to some of the guildsman somewhere, they'll tell you that they get a greater sense of satisfaction doing things the old-fashioned way. It's not a job for them. It's a passion.
It's also code programmed into a.. well.. program. But let's not get into that.

Well, the way they speak when you sign up for a guild, they make it sound like Crystal synthesis is for ametueurs. (sp?)
If I remember correctly they all say "we'll start you out with crystal synthesis." Maybe the 'experts' use the old fashioned stuff. :p
