Ok, Here is the deal I am offering. I am looking for someone to grow the Dark Ores for me. The reason I am looking is because of my job (BTW I am in the Military) I do not have the open ability to care for the plant for a month in order to grow the Ores myself. I would if I could..

And it would be a waste for me to try then something happen and my plant die.

So I am asking for help from someone who has grown them before, I will provide all the supplies except for the pot ( haven't seen any on sale in the AH). As well as share some of the profits once they sell. If you can handle growing more then one at a time all the better for both. I am will to pay between 50-75k each. if there is anyone willing to help send a /tell Kelton
I am on around 9:30pm EST.

From what I've heard this recipe is by no means guaranteed. One of my LS mates gardens regularly (4 mules, 10 pots each) and he only gets a few ores of each type he goes for. Not to discourage, but just wanted to make you aware of the risk ^^

I however am planning a gardening experiment for Dark ore with 5 pots and 2 oak tables to see what kind of results I can get. I'll be farming my own cuttings so I won't have any money (except crystals) in this so no loss ^^

For what it's worth, you can find some links to some good gardening info in the thread linked below.

Thanks, I do understand the risk and that it is a win or lose chance. ^^
But like I said with my time not always being under my control I figured I would ask.

"/em feeling like a lvl1 noob"

ummmmm. I really haven't been attempting to lvl up those skills as of yet. I have tried every now and again, but I would end up to go farm something and not go back, so I would sell my drops in the AH.. I know Bad me..^^ I do plan on working on that it's just to be honest I really don't know which craft I want to start out with.

I think I'm going to start a blog in my journal of my planting results. I'll publish my findings after my first batch is harvested and you can see what the odds are

This is just a way of making money then.

I can suggest some other alternatives.

At your level, you should be able to farm goobues in Pashow fairly effectively. I'm not a RDM though, so if a RDM comes in and says no, Nata, you're wrong, harken unto them. =P

HELM activities are an excellent way to make money also. By HELM I mean Harvesting, Excavating, Logging, and Mining.

I'm something of a fan of Mining (don't ask me why I enjoy it) and would be more than happy to give you a crash course in-game. Look me up on Freedomfries some time.

You could also try farming Elementals and selling the clusters.

I highly recommend you take up crafting.

It takes a good bit of time and/or revenue to get high in any craft, all of them require work, but at the higher levels you can pretty much mint your own gil with them.

Blacksmithing is my personal favorite, goes well with mining, but has a generally higher cost to purchase supplies than many other jobs.

As a RDM, you might benefit most from Clothcraft, Cooking, or Alchemy. The link I provided above contains many links to guides on the various crafts as well.

If you need quick gil, you might consider doing some of the high-end scroll quests. If there's a scroll you don't think you'll need (i.e. for a job you don't plan on using), you can consider questing up some scrolls that sell well and questing them.

Ninja seems most popular. I've done the Ninja quests myself, and would be more than happy to help you do them, should you not feel a desire to level Ninja, at least for a while.

Regarding Darksteel Ore, if you chose to follow the path of the Blacksmith, this affords you the opportunity, around SM60 or so, of desynthing Quadav Backplates and Helms into Darksteel ore. Several Blacksmithing guides offer tips on this.

Finally, I've got a Darksteel Ore up on AH. As a measure of goodwill, and to give you a small leg-up, I'll forward you the profits from this particular sale. Just because I can.

I will look deeper into the crafting skills for just that.. I do fell like I have put it off long enough.

the only thing I have not even tried yet is any of the HELM. at my current lvl yeah I can handle them, with little problem^^ so I will test that out tonight.

Thanks for the info, it has been helpful.

I rate both of you up for the advice.

I would be willing to do this for you after I get a little more experience with it. Right now I can grow Millioncorn reliably, and that's about it hehe.

Just got my Porcelain Pots last night, working on picking up about 3 oak tables for a nice moghancement boost and have farmed a few cuttings that I'll plant, turn into saplings, then shoot for some Dark Ore.

Like I said, I'll post in my journal my exact methods and what my results are every harvest so you can judge whether I have enough of a "green thumb" to try this for ya ^^

Just thought I'd add something I came across.

http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/gardening/

Fairly comprehensive listing.
However it falls short of complete. Depending on the day you plant and the day you fertilize depends on the yield. The above site lists all possible yields (I think).

For best results I've heard it is best to plant on the pot's day and fertilize on the crystal's day. If you fertilize or plant on opposite days you get rock salt or something appropriately sucky. If you plant and fertilize on neutral days you'll get a yield but not the higher valued one.

Ex. earthern pot - plant earthday and fertilize with the crystal appropriate to the day in question, ex. Fire crystal on Firesday. This should get you the best result for this combo.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but hopefully it will take most of the guess work out of it.

Sounds good Garan.

Got my first harvest, a single veggie seed that yielded me 8 Fire Crystals.

I started a new crop (1 veggie seed and 1 grain seed) and I'm experimenting with day planted to compare results.

Since we're mentioning sites, I thought I would give linkage to Pikko's Pots, by far my favorite site on the subject (very entertaining too ^^). Your site looks good to Garan, thanks for the info Smiley: cookie

Also, here's the link to my Gardening "Blog" in my Journal, for your reading pleasure. Tonight when I get home I need to add info about my 2nd crop. I think I'm going to change it up and instead of posting each result, I'll post each item harvested and the information about how I got it.

FYI to the OP, I have a tree cutting in my mog, I'm getting ready to plant it to get a sapling, then Dark Ore. I'll keep you posted!

I would definately reccommend crafting, I'm gardening to supplant my crafting (growing crystals).
