I smell foul play.

Thanks Celestia, for the heads up.

Here's hoping they get bored with trying to double the going price artificially and leave well enough alone. And here's hoping it drops back down. Smiley: frownb

Can that be reported? Its got to be against some part of the agreement for FFXI... Besides if this was irl, they'd be arrested...lol

Ill see if I can find anything about it in the agreement...maybe we can put a stop to price gouging...

Sure, they can buy them out, and sell them for whatever price they want, how could taht be against the rules. You just dont pay for them at that price, and dont sell them for that price, and they will go back down. They can put them up for 5,000,000,000 gil each if they wanted, but i highly doubt everyone who kills lizzy and the emperor will expect to get that much out of them.

I had to do a double take when I saw those screenshots

I guess luckily I bought my boots 4 days ago for 515k....
very verrrry lucky. To think I was going to save up for the
Hairpin, Looks like I am going to have some fun with my RDM/NIN the next couple of days while I camp that sucker for the Hairpin -.-

Can anyone confirm if they real players are starting to buy at those prices yet? I'm still at work and I'm dying to know how crazy people are for paying those ridiculous prices >.<

That's easy, they're buying gil ^^

Just kidding, I'm sure people have earned that much money legitimately but honestly, while these items are very nice to have, are the stats they improve really worth paying 700k + for?

Like Black earrings, they give 2 more MP than Onyx but cost 3 times as much. In my opinion, the extra 4 MP isn't worth it ^^

I saw those screenshots and thought "Damn, I'm glad I'm not on that server, on Bismark they are only like 300-400k."

*coughs*

>.>

That does suck a lot. I've seen it done before though on other items. A problem occurs when people start expecting to pay that much for the item. Just hope demand falls off at a certain point. These items aren't any better than they were 3 weeks ago. Just hope that people who actually buy them realize that and wait out the gouging >_<

Anyone notice the 900k-1mill price tag on Ochiote's Kotes now? *cough*

I haven't had the need to buy any of these things yet.. but I'm leveling rng on the side in honor of a good friend and I fear for my non-existant pocket change ( ;.;)

Actually, the items can often be bought via IGE for real cash.

Last I looked, gluttony sword for 30$ and Empy pin for 130$. That was last week. Is this what they're doing? Honestly, I don't know. Only way to track the 'who' would to be go through with the sale and hope they use paypal, as paypal gives you the contact information for the buyer when you use it for transactions (great way to sell those old college texts).

Unfortunately, one way to fix this is to buy out the AH and reset the price - a huge loss to whoever would try it. The other way is to mass camp, which I'm all for. I'm even forfeit any share of profit from sales, just reset the damn price to something more sane.

Interested? It would involve a mass camping twice a week. Works best if done among friends simply for the trust factor. So get your linkshells together and go camp. We have to fix this ourselves - SE isn't going to do a thing for us.

Lol, OMGWTFSUX. My mule rakes in on average 100-220k per night that I leave him on Bazaar...

Remember Kids farming is fun when you do it with a friend ^^b

I'm down with a price-reset.

So lets not just talk about it, lets do it! ^^

Someone get Chops in here, he's in the VE market. Smiley: tongue

Sign up below and I'll keep the list updated. If interest is high, I'll start a new thread.

And then we can start scheduling group camping. ^^

Easy fella, I was kidding ^^

I'm sure it's easy to have the mule make that much a night, but I play maybe 2-3 times a week, 2 of those are static night so I'm sure you see my dilemma ^^

Then again, this is why I'll probably never have either one of those items unless I camp them myself (which I may just do, I have several days vacation coming up Smiley: clap )

Hopefully my Alchemy will pay off soon :)

it's ridiculously easy to camp both Valkurm Emperor and Leaping
Lizzy, although I will say the latter is a little more frustrating,
due to a much smaller area compared to the former, and some subtle
Wide Scan oddities. ><

i'm always up for a good Valkurm Emperor camp, i think i am 4/12 on
it, give or take 1 or 2. ^^

it really makes me sad, that the areas once loved by players, and i
mean decent and courteous players, whether farming or mining or
logging or what have you, have been overrun by gil farmers. even
way down into Buburimu Peninsula, logging and what not. the once
quiet areas are no longer quiet, nor safe, and our fallback areas
are coming under fire as well.

for shame.

I don't think there are any gil sellers camping Valkurm Emperor. There may be, but they certainly aren't Chinese. I'm down there every so often and all of my competition seems legit. It's not really worth a gil seller's time to camp VE since wide scan and flee are basically a must-have, and besides.. voke botting is just so much easier than doing a wide scan every 2 seconds. Here's some names of people that camp VE along with me:

Guuruu
Hybra (Sp?)
Memo
Kittynight
Aunika
Anubis (might be Enubis.. can't remember)
Draxzzy
Splinterthewise

There's a few others that I can't think of, but I've interacted with all those other players and I believe they are all legit. It's strange though that IGE has in their possession some Emperor Hairpins. They have to be coming from somewhere... unless they just buy it themselves from the AH and resell it for the same price as that amount of gil would cost.

don't forget others at Valkurm Emperor camp:
Loorty
Fira
Arutobi
Lozer (i've actually teamed up with him before)
Senorita

i've also had the pleasure of hunting alongside:
Guuruu
Hybra
Memo

(all players listed above are not gil-sellers, afaik)

i would say over all, it's a respectable camp. people are
generally courteous, everyone kills placeholders promptly, no one
is standing in front of, or on top of another, etc.

another reason of why it is so respectable, is that it takes a
certain degree of skill/dedication to camp an area so large, with
a spawn so unpredictable. hence, the lack of gil-sellers at the
Valkurm Dunes NM locale^^

gannbatte!^^

*edit: added some additional, non-fascinating thoughts^^

Memo, Kittynight, Splinterthewise, Aunika, Anubis, and Enubis are all legit players, they are all with the exception of Anubis part of my LS.

See we used to be a thf LS and Enubis and Memo thought most of us how to camp VE to make gil, one day we saw that the pin was up to 500k and I thought it was a good thing but they frowned upon me and said that will just make competition too large.

These people that I metioned above have not put the pin on the AH for about more than 400k because it just hurts them in the long run. Also we had an event in which everyone in the LS would get a pin, we are all lvl 30+ thieves and we need it. Everyone that I mentioned puts in their time to camp it, some more than others as it doesnt drop the pin every time.

The Jerk that is bringing up the price for it is the same jerk that is bringing up the price for Leapings, Deortun and Jimys are the two people that I see most on both screenshots.

Not that anyone is saying they are but those that I personally know are not gilsellers and if you asked them to help you camp it when they are camping it they will help you. I am just looking out for my LS as a part of it was mentioned.
