Just wondering if any of you on Bismarck are musicians / songwriters / recording enthusiasts / etc.

If so what instrument(s) do you play? in a band of any sort?
Any place online to hear the music you do?

I'm a musician/songwriter... main instrument is guitar, but also play bass, drums, piano, whatever else.

and one other thing, since you started playing FFXI, has it cut into your musical time at all? i know mine has! i wish i wasn't so addicted to FFXI, it's ruining me! lol.

If you're into making music, reply to this post!

Guitar mostly, little keys, just sold my drums :(

'98 Fender Strat (Tex Mex model)
'76 Ibanez Classical
Vintage Arch-top acoustic (pedigree unknown)
'68 Danelectro Silvertone
'92 Fernandez Telecaster (rip off of the Fender, but just as nice)

Played in a couple of bands, did a couple of shows, nothing major.
Mostly play for my own amusement... well that and driving the neighbours nuts which is well for my own amusement. :)

My boyfriend played trumpet for 17 years and composes full orchestrals on his computer. I play piano (including marimbas/xylophones/etc), guitar, euphonium, and some percussion.

Nothing "bandy" though...I tend to say I play WITH my guitar.

I play the saxaphone in the Concert band in my High School. No marching band, thank god.

Ironically enough though, i play a bard as my main, so i guess thats where i got my interest in playing bard.

Anyway if any of u guys remember the Rose Bowl several years back the Washington Township(NJ) band played at half-time, thats my school, so marching band is pretty intense. Thats why i opted out of it

anyway i guess im a musician, been playing for 6-7yrs.

I play guitar, bass guitar, violin, viola, clarinet, and piano, all ranging from badly to actually pretty good. ><

I sing mostly though, and help my roomy out in writing music/lyrics.

He's the real musician and plays FFXI too (Haerdalis 40 RNG). He's been playin' guitar for about 10 years, also bass guitar, drums, piano, and just about every instrument you put into his hands. He has about 15 years of professional singing experience and about 6-8 years professional recording experience. We've got a mini-studio going on in our apartment with the amount of instruments and equipment we keep here. ><

Ever since we started playing FFXI, my roomy hardly ever spends time making beats or playing guitar, but lately we've decided to wean ourselves away a little so he can focus on music more.

Strangley enough I'm a Bard, but he isn't. >.> We're also both enormous music enthusiasts.

Cello for 10+ years, Trombone and Tuba casually.

I also program music... Fruity Loops 4.0.

I've got a good voice, if I can say so. Still trying to assemble a college band.

wow, thanks Wintaru!! thats correct, i have a little band down here in Austin TX..

Me myself, i play guitar, drums, keyboards, and i like to sit behind a computer, drink some vodka, smoke some Tarutaru Kind bud, and record all sorts of crazy ******* like have you ever just gone ape ***** wild, yelling and making your dog bark and howl and then start breaking a glass table, and then yell and scream go nuts, and then play it backwards?? thats the sort of silly ***** i like to do..

but for my band i am the Lead singer.. I like the band that i am in, but i would love to find a real heavy metal band to take me into stardom.. I know i will be famous one day, but it will just take the right people who are ready to blast off!!!

I like this post, its good to know there are other musicians on the Bismark server.. the best damn server on FFXI!

Piano for only 1 year, working on some Bach minuets and Turkish March (such a cool song).
No other instruments but I constantly get detnetion for banging on my desks (I can't help it its a habit of mine that I can't get rid of, drives my teachers berserk, I can come up with some good stuff though dunno why I don't play drums :)

Played trumpet for 13 years, I play a little guitar and piano, and I write. I'm a music theory (double) major in college right now too, heh. Nice to see so many Bismarck musicians. ^-^

awesome to see so many of you responded!

to go into further detail about me, i've played guitar for almost 20 years, wow, crazy, i never thought about it like that. jeez.
i try to play any instrument i can get my grubby little hands on, including the didgeridoo (can't quite get the hang of it yet though).

i have a ProTools recording studio at home where i do all my tracking. i've been in a ton of bands over the years, but currently i am just writing and recording solo. i do want to get around to putting a band together again though.

i'm mostly into indie rock, older (pop)punk and some classic rock. influences and stuff i'm into: beatles/mccartney/lennon/harrison, the shins, brian wilson/beach boys, jon brion, the hollies, dag nasty, the flashing lights, descendents, big drill car, down by law, keane, 7 seconds, the killers, hot hot heat, social distortion, sleater-kinney, and countless other stuff.

Hyla, how much does a good marimba cost?

sang for a hardcore band huh? OF COURSE it counts. i've done my share of hardcore and punk guitar playing back in the day. i used to live on a steady diet of Snapcase, Earth Crisis, and Slayer.

p.s. Rate up for being a hardcore singer!

band....nope
I was forcefully made to play the piano for 9 years of my life tho. I ACTUALLY started to like it in the last 1/2 year I played. There was nothing worst than having to practice for a straight hour when all you wanted to do was to play street hockey outside with your friends. god my mom must be a saint for putting up with me for all those years.

I made it to conservatory lvl 9. Also played other instrument in school like the trumpet, trombone, saxomophone (SAsomophoonnne), and drums

Well, I've finally decided to post.

I've played guitar for about four years, and found myself playing with friends in a garage recently, That all fell a part though buncha bad stuff. I was the only one that could sing for half a damn, so I did. I guess I was the lead guitarist/vocals for a garage band. Don't I rock!
