It would be better if you soloed til you hit Lv 10, then go to the dunes, aka the DOOMS!!! you will get a pt fairly quick being a War and all. :D

Where are you and what are you?

If you're in Windurst, no matter what your job, you're likely better off staying in Sarutabaruta for just a bit, then looking toward Tahrongi Canyon and getting your Mea crag crystal. You'll want to stay clear of the undead at night, though.

Bastok and San D'Oria have Gustaberg/Konschtat/Dem and Ronfaure/La Theine/Holla respectively.

And after 10, welcome to Valkurm Dunes. We all do time there at one time or other.

Kill gobs near the lake in Ron. And id say around Lv 8-10 go up into the orc forts and kill orcs til Lv 10. That way, you can farm fire crystals, and at the same time Lv up. it might be a little slow, cuz you will have ot heal alot, but it will be worth it. But as you know Orcs argoe, ad if you get argoed up there, ur doneskis, unless you get a mage that will heal you. :)

You buy them, or if you kill Gob fishers in East ron, you might get a cheap 1. :)

I found the best for me when I was levelling war and pld was east ronfaure. Gobbie Fishers all along the river, you'll get a rod no problem, plus there's a good population of orcs, sheep etc. Avoid orc mesmerizers and funguars, poison sucks at low levels, and as mentioned above, be wary at night, the undead will enjoy your supple war flesh. Once you get level nine head off to ghelsba and farm orcs for fire crystals or la theine for xp. Then level 10 hit the dunes in a pt.
Hope this helps.

eh...what the best weapon to use?? i'm using a sword and a shield and sometime a stave <.<

For my war I am using an axe, but that's only because my sword was already skilled up with my rdm. I like the axe on my war, I can still use a shield and it does more dmg than a sword, even if it is a slower weapon.

Really it's personal preference, some ppl find greater success with certain weapons depending on situation. Try to skill up in a variety of weapons, you'll soon figure out which is best for what.

heres some advice.

before you attack any mob check it by selecting it and hitting ctrl+c or selecting it fromt he menu on the left. at your level you want to look for some decent challenge mobs to kill. as far as your weapon warriors are best with axe and great axe. if you cant afford one yet though its ok just use the sword, the stave you dont want to use. at level 10 try and get enough money to buy yourself a suit of scale mail. then as they said head to dunes and turn on your party flag. the first 10 levels is just a slow grind you'll get through it though. and another tip for you make a provoke macro so you can provoke quickly once you are in a pt. incase you dont know how here is a good one.

click the menu button 2 times and go to macros
select the ctrl+1 macro and go into it make it look like this. dont include the "line 1" exct they are just the slots you need to type this in.

line 1. /ja "Provoke" <t>
line 2. /p Provoking <t>
line 3. /wait 15
line 4. /p Provoke ready in 15 seconds
line 5. /p Provoke is ready.

you'll need the first line to be identicle to mine, make sure you capitalize the P in provoke exct.

Two things I can add.

1) in the macro listed above you will want another /wait 15 between lines 4 & 5.

2) your weapon choice is dependant largely upon what goal you have for your war in the long term. Do you want to focus more on tanking (drawing enemy attention and taking damage for the party) or damage dealing? If you plan on tanking I would recommend sticking to a 1-handed weapon, so that you can use a shield. Shields will block some attacks, which can be a godsend in battle. In practice, among 1-handed weapons I find swords to be the most effective weapon for elvaan tanks due to their slightly lower accuracy and attack speed, and axes to be more effective on the other races.

If you are more interested in being a melee damage dealer, the 2-handed weapons are the way to go. Scythes, great axes, and great swords all have huge damage potential. However as a tank I really can't offer any advice on which would be most appropriate for you.

My .02 gil:

As a warrior you have the best skill ratings in Great Axe (A+) and one-handed Axe (A-). If you intend to take warrior all the way to the end game, then you should probably consider great axe and axe to be your main weapons. If you are leveling warrior to be a subjob at a later date, then focusing on those weapons is less important. You should be able to keep both of those weapons' skill levels capped without much problem. You get a C+ in Shield, so this will help for tanking, especially at lower levels. If you chose to take warrior into the end game you have the exclusive weaponskills for both Great Axe and Axe available to you.

Many warriors choose to use Ninja as their subjob and weild two one handed axes. Those that do not sub ninja will probably sub Monk or Theif. If subbing Theif, you are most likely going the damage dealer route and will want to use a great axe stacked with sneak attack. If subbing Monk, you might be going the tank route and will want to use a one-handed axe and a shield (as stated in one of the posts above).

I guess the thing to remember is that Warrior seems quite versatle and you can chose one of several paths to go down. Your equipment and subjob will help you to realize what kind of warrior you are building.

Hope that helps, and if I got anything wrong, please correct me.

If ur taking SAM all the way to 75, lvl up ur war to 37 then before u switch.

why lvl to 37? @@

Because if you sub War, and you are taking your main job (Samurai) to 75, your sub is half the level of your main job, so you want to take warrior to 37 before you take samurai to 75.
#22 Nov 05 2004 at 7:27 PM Rating: Good
because when you reach sam75 then your war will be at its max as a sub (half levels rounded down of the main class)

<edit> so that you dont have to switch back to war later to level it up </edit>

arrr ok ...wat about ...nin/war?? @@
#24 Nov 05 2004 at 11:15 PM Rating: Good
you would still, if using war as your final sub, want to level it to 37... that being the maximum any subjob can be(but only when your main job is 75)

Actually you dont really HAVE to level war to 37 right now, but you will eventually. If you just get so tired of war that you really want to stop leveling war, and start leveling something else, you can always wait to level war to 37.
O and, go for samurai ^.^

very true, aerweny. was looking thru my posts on this thread and noticed that they had that "manditory" edge to them

and who knows, lipp may change his mind on what he wants at end game... I know I have several times since starting the game... thinkin at this point about playing war/mnk till lvl 37 war... then pld to lvl 75.... but by the time I hit lvl 37 war, I may have already changed my mind again...(seeing that I have to level mnk to 17 for my sub till I become pld)

so, to comment on this little tangent of mine, lipp, it may be a good idea to try several jobs before desciding on an ultimate path... gives you a better feel for the options

on that note, when you do reach the uber high levels, it will be a good idea to have several choices of jobs to sub to your main, that and all the crystals and items that ya get while leveling other jobs will be good funds when upgrading equipment for whichever job you descide upon

after you have made that rather HUGE descision, THEN all of my previous suggestions become relevant
