Is this why gil sellers are so aggressive?Follow

For kicks I just researched one of the gil/account/gear selling sites and found something interesting.

You can sell 200K to them for 9.60, it costs 26.56 to buy from them. You cannot sell less than 200K at time and they will not buy anything over 1Mil. An error message pops up saying their inventory is full or there is an error with your server ?!?!

So it seems to me that gil sellers can only make around 9 bucks per 200K. That's alot of gil for very little payoff.

Now if SE would just add an additional tab in the AH so you can see the name of the seller on items over say 100K, we could stop buying from the known sellers, or at least curtail their earnings a little making it harder for them to build the multiple stacks of 200k required to actually make a decent return on the time it takes in game to get the high dollar drops.

Maybe I'm naive, please feel free to comment on what I've said, I'd love to hear your take on this.

I do not look forward to playing this game at higher levels when my likelyhood of run-ins with these @$$holes is going to increase. I may just level everything to 30 and quit if gil sellers get to me as they have gotten to alot of you.

....I'd like to see a group of level 75 gilfarmers trying to fight Kirin...Oh, The hilarity.

Yeah, Don't quit. Just stiff the levels between 50-65, from there you don't buy ****..mostly, You usually rely on high-end NM Drops, Something a gilfarmer will never be capable of getting.

I don't know...

I am starting to see Jerrys cleared for up to lvl 60.

*shivers*

Is the day coming when they will be able to enter Ifrit's Cauldron?

I was in Eldieme helping a group get coffer keys, paper and the bell for whm AF. I saw a sad sight.

I saw a group of 3 jerrys pt with a few people from these boards doing gengai or AF. Killing tomb mages/war and lichs.

I wont mention any names but you know who you are. You should be ashamed for doing this. It was more of a bummer because I know one of the people personally and we have discussed the gilfarmer issues and our hates for them. Then to see that was BS.

please dont help them do G2,they can not solo it as a 6 person pt so we shouldnt have to worry about them reaching level 60. and if the gil farmers team up and try to do it i dont think they are smart enough. some times i follow leecoper around to **** him off, he doesnt even know how to change gear and make me lose my auto target.

errrr too late. I was at Valley of sorrows last night and on my way there, I saw them trying to lvl and they were all lvl 56. Sorry but people are helping gilsellers as we speak. I actually have read in many threads that people actually talk to these people and act friendly towards each other. */shrugs*

see, I think there's a fine line between acting as a-holes torwards them and preventing them from getting higher level NMs for gilselling purpose. I will still treat them respecfully ( they are, human beings in the end), but will never ever offer them any assistance.

I think it's kind of funny; the raw currency value of FFXI gil is steadily dropping. As more people move to other games, the gilsellers will go with them, because there's more to be gained on new games by far. EQ2 is already making a difference; there have been several times that I did a /sea all Jerry and came up with nothing. That's craziness.

The day may be coming when the gilsellers move on to greener pastures. Hope that day comes soon ><

I, for one, would like to know all of the names of NA players that helped any gil sellers accomplish any quest or mission.

To answer lipp:

There are a large number of players in this game, on all servers, which serve to provide gil to companies which then turn around and sell the gil for real-world money to other players of the game.

The issues we have with them are three-fold.

1) Typically gil-sellers are rude as ****, going so far as to harrass players or to train monsters onto them, getting them killed, just for being in the same area as the gil-sellers.

2) It makes competition for NM with high-value drops such that many players can never grap an NM when it pops.

3) Assigning a real-world monetary value to gil plays havok on the game's economy (though exactly what sort of havok, and how bad, is open to debate)

NA????.......gil sellers are what lvl?? Lol >.< can i kill them?
#16 Nov 06 2004 at 5:16 AM Rating: Good
As of today, the various gil-sellers are from lvl 1 to something just shy of 60 (creepy gil-sellers have a higher level than me. That's just dead embarassing.)

Anyway, if you find some where you're leveling, yeah I suppose you could MPK (read: drag a bunch of monsters at them then bail, leaving them with a bunch of links) the little turds.

Keep in mind that 1) we may say someone is a gil-seller, but that isn't ALWAYS the case. We've been known to be wrong. And 2) MPK'ing or otherwise harrassing any player (even a suspected gil-seller) is in violation of the Terms of Service you agree to in order to play this game. This could subject you to various disciplinary actions at the hands of GM's, up to and including being banned from the game. MPK at your own risk.

Fihkenyaa, Beyond, Iville, etc, are 66+ and are the gil farmers I believe Boloboh is referring too. They're pretty much the only names on the list now for a Phantom Tathlum.

Wasn't that the name of the elfy-lookin' chick from Record of Lodoss War?

Never got to see the sequel to that. Was it any good?

And just to stay on topic... ummm... gil-sellers suck! =P

Yea, I was farming lizards in Crawler's Nest with my friend last night and he mentioned that I should bring some rolanberries to spawn the Guardian crawler a few times.

Fat chance, they have that on lock down. One person (Uuuu), is on trade duty, then 2 (Hoohoo and Kiikii) on fight duty. Then in another room close by is another on trade duty for the older rolanberries and one person fighting the Drone Crawler. There was another rdm/whm running back and forth to the 2 campsites curing everyone.

Some may say that this isn't very profitable, but, the silk drop rate on that crawler is pretty good, and the older rolanberries make for easy gil in selbina. Also, I think crawlers eggs can drop from the guardian.

These guys have to be in the 60s to not get aggro from the lizards that pop in those rooms.

YuuYuu is another one of the CN cronies. I have been with at least 3 parties where we have all called a GM on them, but there has been no action. YuuYuu *does* attempt to talk back, saying he is from Taiwan, putting smileys in /say, and even cheering and waving. Uuuu has actually raised some of us after slaughter.

I must say though, if I were wanting to do that quest, I'd be pretty peeved. He was there for at least a week each and every time I went in.
