...Anywone want to help me use it at Giddeus?

I'm a Bard. I have a few people I may invite, but if you'd like to fight some mandies and share in some loot let me know.

One little catch: this is my first BCNM40. I'll need someone who is fairly good at that particular fight to tag along.

Paladin and White Mage wanted, but that's kind of obvious.

Thought i would put in my helpful info since i was at this stage before. and yes it is very scary for other people to go in with a BRD who is new to this BCNM, but many people will go into this with failure somewhere in the back of their head.

Obvious stuff:
Mary's Horn - you need this without it don't even try it as the Onion tank.
Food - Flint Caviar(+4CHR) is nice for Extra CHR and yes even +1 can be noticed so 4 is very nice.

Somethings to note a great way to seperate the NM from the others while giving you instant aggro is to cast Foe's Lullaby on the NM(lasts 2-3 sec) before the tank goes up and vokes.

Also make sure that the onions all stay very close to the one you are casting Horde Lullaby on. I have lost a couple orbs becuase of this. 2-3 onions would get around me and away from my target>.<

Other than that I am a SMN/WHM who is willing to play Main Healer or BRD Healer.

Yeah, I've been practicing my Horde Lullaby tactic on rabbits in Ronfaure, to gauge the exact range & stuff like that.

Thanks for the info!

mary's horn isnt a must. i been in lots of successful attemtpts without it. that is like saying you need a signa just for the 8chr

unless you are elvaan or galka, use VIT food, not chr food. you will want as much def and vitality as you can get

Did you bother to check what race the origianal poster is? maybe you should. yes i know a few Taru and Hume BRDs who have done this without a Mary's Horn.

Here is a what has been proven (by others and i have done a lot of testing for this as well) Mary's Horn is concidered a must for the simple reason that little crappy +1 gives your song a extra 50% if not double the time your Lullaby lasts.

And to compare that to a Signa for +8CHR is really a basic mistake at best yes the +8CHR is very nice but what will draw most players even many galka BRDs away from it in this BCNM is the -5VIT, you will be tanking those Onions do you want to add 3-10 more damage per hit(depending on race)?

;>,<; Sorry about the short rant but i decided to actually post this since it actually adds a bit more info you might find useful.

Another note if you aren't using the Horn during XPing then just buy it and sell it back for each BCNM. I did this for a while until i tested the horn in an XP pt(forgot i hadn't put it up) with a link we got after that i kept it.

Edit: Grammer >.< i hate it lol

I can go on RDM/WHM and help you out, so long as you allow me to bring my own Star Orb as well. I've done this three times in the past, and the strategy we had worked out fantastically, so I know how the thing runs, and it shouldn't be any problem.

EDIT: Sidenote. Elvaan actually have fairly high CHR, Shadow. At the same level, same job for any given job, I have more CHR than my tarutaru or hume counterparts.

I've heard some say that you need a DRK for this because you need to stun the black Mandy when it starts casting Flood.

Thought I'd offer that piece of info I've heard.

Good luck to you. The first and only time I ever did this, I died and deleveled. Yeah...good times...good times.

The black Mandragora can be silenced fairly easily, and flood is seriously easy to interrupt. Having a DRK along just for that's.. rather.. useless. No offence. But I've found the best party is BRD, WAR, RNG, RDM, WHM and.. some other Melee to fill the gap. I've always just used PLD.

May seem "obvious" but neither are actually a necessity. Pretty much anything can tank the mandragoras, so it's my suggestion that you use something besides a PLD to tank because there's no real damage output from a PLD.

My best set up so far has been the following:
DRK/WAR
THF/RNG
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
RDM/WHM
BRD/WHM

Basically, we had the DRK tank (me), the THF/RNG spammed arrows for damage and used SA/TA to help get the onions off the BRD. BLMs nuked and healed the DRK. RDM was healer for the BRD, and the BRD did what he needed to.

This method works really well for us except for the occasional mishaps. Something to think about pehaps.

Alauce--I'd be happy to do a second BCNM40 with your Star Orb as well.

Shadow--I'll take that into account.

Kulgan--very interesting setup; I think I like the idea, but I do have a question: since the Etudes are now single-target songs, will one BLM have to do without during the BCNM?

we didn't even deal with etudes and such. Basically the bard was only there to keep the onions asleep. Everyone else got to do the dirty work. =P

I'll do this, Can we make everyone bring their own orb and do this 6 times? That'd be great.

I want erase.

Zariko, of course you're welcome to help.

Alauce & Zariko, send me a PM or a /tell ingame if you're planning something, and I'll see what I can do to make myself available for it.

To whomever went on the rating spree:

Thank you. :D
