Moghancement : ???Follow

#1 Nov 03 2004 at 2:11 PM Rating: Decent
I tried asking this on the crafting forums, but apparently, no one really says much on the subject.

Hopefully someone here, is adept at this stuff.
Some furniture has Moghancement aspects, an elemental, and/or a ability of some sort.

Anyway, I'm trying to set up my home, for Moghancement: Desynthesis.
All I ever manage to get is Lightning, how do I get the Desynthesis to kick in? This is what I have for it...

Ancient Blood
Tarutaru Stool x3
Wastebasket
Bookholder x2

I haven't been able to scrape up enough for the other painting, just yet, but if I overload the dark element, will it kick in as Moghancement: Desynthesis, or Dark?

My First Magic Kit is also Lightning. You can get it at the airport shop in Port Windurst.

I got Moghancement: Desynthesis with a Brass Flowerpot and Ancient Blood. I'm not sure how adding other elements to the mix would affect it. And I'm also not sure if gardening affects it at all - the first time I recall seeing it, I remember I was growing something, but I've since forgotten the days I planted and what crystals I added. So this probably isn't terribly helpful.

Speaking of which....I heard (not sure if it's true) there is a moghancement that prevents you from loosing so much exp when you die. If this is true what do I need to get it?

Ok, here's what I did, it worked well but is a real pain in the butt.

Get yourself 50 taru taru stools. That's it. Their Lightning will give you an "Overwhelming Lightning Aura" when you talk to your moogle.

I did this for Alchemy a while back but had to get rid of them, while getting very nice desynths (you will still fail, and you will still lose gobbie masks, but it will be very much reduced) the space was a pain. I have all the Mog Safe quests done, so I only had 30 free slots that I could change stuff out of without going home to Windy.

I did the math and ran around buying Masks at different AH's to get the best price (I never went over 600 a mask, sometimes got for as low as 300) I could produce, with fails, carbon fiber for around 230gil per fiber. Not sure what the rate is currently for stacks of fiber, but needless to say after saving all my artifical lenses I made, I had a nice profit roll in on the prism powders.

There is, I have an adventurer's cert. that gives that, the Noble Bed also has that moghancement.

Anyone know how to get one moghancement over another? Or do certain enhancements trump others?

any of the beds help with XP loss, some just more than others.

I think whatever element you have the most of will trump the others.

As for moghancements it appears to be based on whichever item you placed last.

so if you have something with mogahncement fishing, and moghancement experience then you can goto layout and "re-place" the one you wnt to be active.

I could be 100% wrong but it appeared to me to work this way.

Sounds good, I don't really care for the Fishing enhancement, I hate fishing up junk. The XP one could have really come in handy after my first trip to Garlaige on Monday ; ;

I think the best way to explain moghancements is that each furnishing has:

A) Element with corresponding moghancement

B) Strength

Beds are a little bit different, because they all have different elements, but all give moghancement experience.

Mysterytour has a nice page with all the furnishings listed with their strengths.

http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/tips/moghancements/moghancements.htm

So for example, if I put a Bronze bed (strength 6) in my mog house with a Porcelain flowerpot (strength 2), the bed will override the flowerpot and I will get the experience enhancement.

If however, I put a Bronze bed (6) in my mog house with a Maple table (strength 8), the table will override the bed and I will get the gardening enhancement.

It gets more complicated when you have more furnishings involved, but this is the basic idea behind moghancements.

If you want to get an enhancement to be stronger, you have to buff it with furnishings that have that element.

For example, if I wanted the fishing enhancement to be very strong, I'd put an Armoire (strength 16, water element) in my mog house and then buy tons of armor boxes and put them in my mog house to increase the strength of my fishing moghancement.

I'm not 100% sure on this so correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are 3 different strengths you can achieve, and your mog will tell you a different thing for each strength.

Hope that helps ^^

Related question.

At what point should I start considering loading up with various elemental enhancements to further my crafting?

Thanks!

Being cheap as hell, mining my iron ore to synth rather than buying it.

Not gonna be an option once I get to the higher levels of smithing /cry

I successfully got rid of the Lightning, the Water, and the Fishing (rearranging and changing up)! wooo. but....
Argh now I got Gardening!!!

/em slaps his forehead.

LOL more experimentation lies ahead.

Apocpink is absolutely right. Anytime I synth I make sure that the crystal I am using is supported by the apporpriate Moghancement. For example, if i want to synth gauntlets (Fire Crystal + 2x Iron sheets + 2x Leather Gloves) I always put a Cupboard in my layout giving me Moghancement: Fire. The result is a lowered chance of losing items when you fail the synth.

Now, synthing is different than desynthing. When you synth something the log window will say Yourname synthesized Item, but when you desynth it will say Yourname obtained Item. So a lightning Moghancement, what you would get from a Magic Set, is not appropriate for Desynthesis. I saw that you own a wastebasket. This is what I use to obtain Moghancement: Desynthesis. Just make sure it is the only furniture out (its "furniture power" is relatively weak) and you should get it.

As far as Aura is concerned, I am unsure about it's effect on synths, avatars, and elemental defense...

Hope this helps ^^

Oh I know it has an affect lol.

I was trying a synth for a while that involved a water crystal and I failed everyone until I took those stools out of my mog, then I was able to do it just fine. I noticed a lot less fails as well so it does make a difference. Very noticiable if you're crazy like me and buy 50 stools :)

Does the quantity of furniture giving you your active effect have any... err... effect on its... uhh... effectiveness? (sorry >< too tired to thing of synonyms for 'effect')

The quantity of furniture will increase the strength of the aura (provided they are of the right element).

So if I had a commode (16 fishing strength), and added 10 armor boxes (each 2 fishing strength), I would have 36 fishing strength.

I *believe* the cutoff for a higher aura is around 50 strength? I can't remember right now what strength you need to make your aura stronger (your moogle actually tells you something different), but the way you get it that high is by placing lots and lots of furniture.

So yes, quantity does have an effect if you are buffing the right element, but try not to think of it in terms of number of furnishings. It's better described as elemental strength, since there are many combinations of furniture you can try, but the real goal is to get the combined elemental strength of all the furniture to a certain number, if that makes sense ^^
