well guys, if you were watching the thread on the general forum, then you probably know it has died

I dont care... seeing that some fools descided to rate me down for this. fools that dont even have the balls to post why they rated down

dont be discouraged though, I am just dropping that thread, not the cause

we will be heard, even over the nay-sayers

continue to send letters, and I will continue to add more addresses (as I find them)
#28 Oct 31 2004 at 2:32 AM Rating: Good
Huge rate up for taliph, for sticking his balls out in the open and getting them shot off in the general forum.

And thanks taliph. It was my idea, sure, but you're the one who's run with it and invested work.

Honestly I doubt I could have found the time to do the work you've invested in this. My plate is pretty full atm.

So, thank you.

I love the whole loophole problem. China means our laws don't work, sorry. Gah. It's like International Waters, anything goes.

Well, if what that person wrote is true, then they are at least doing some work on Phoenix. But it seems all they're doing is entrapment. Great way to snare someone sure, but they're not all that stupid. And when you see sites like this

http://www.geocities.jp/oisu_ff/

it makes you wonder how much they really do know or care.

Sorry I'm jaded, but I want to see an official report on this problem. Just to let us know they're doing something about it. To me, it just seems like they don't care, and that's bad when you pay $16 a month only for frustration. I already wait hours on end for a [good] party, I shouldn't have to wait even longer for a process that takes hours in and of itself (farming).

Sorry. I'm just going to keep writing. Snail mail is next, SE's address to be exact. If I get a reply, I'll post it here.

I agree with Seraphim Hunter.

If nothing else, I want some disclosure of information, I want some sort of report on how they are dealing with gilsellers.

Because I'm a paranoid and a skeptic. And it's hard notto be skeptical when gilselling is such a huge problem.

Do I have a right to disclosure of information pertaining to their efforts to stop the gilsellers?

Nope. They can continue to keep their collective mouth shut. But my own observations lead me to believe at this point that my business is not valuable to them. Without more evidence that they are indeed working to provide me the service I require from a MMORPG, I may take my business elsewhere.

Or not at all. Consumer's have huge power over companies. Your buck is a vote.

btw, two days to the election, americans. ^^

so, if chineese dont have to follow the ToS... then why do people in china even have access to the game...

I understand why SE is letting china play, due to china being the largest population base in the world, but the ToS is supposed to be there to protect players from stupidity like gil farming/selling. SE knew that they were giving china free reign on their servers when they let the product be used in china.

so again we are back to the money overpowering the rules
#33 Nov 02 2004 at 12:27 AM Rating: Good
I think the problem has more to do with legal issues surrounding the leveling of lawsuits than violations of ToS.

He said you will be suprised by the occasional response. Gil sellers /tell you in virtue of selling equimpent or gil to your through whatever money transfer system they happen to have available to them. Surpisingly, cash through snail mail. 99% of gil sellers have been caught by this method. The majority of gil sellers that are caught and banned are from GMs using their normal character accounts during regular game play. "

Rated up everyone here who was rated down for ridiculous and unseen reasons. Same thing done for everyone who presented a differing opinion on the voting thread.

Karma monkeys be damned.

Sent my letters out this morning.

Well, ive given up on "killing" gil farmers... Square seems not to care about the matter whenever anyone brings it up, especially the GM's. I don't wanna get into any conspiericy (<-- can't spell) theorys, but it would make sence if the GM's or some Square people had connections, or were involved in the farming. But as with everything I say, take it with a grain of salt.

I have to cheer you on for posting this information on this board and to say thank you very much for posting the letter. I have posted a link to this post on our Link Shell forum for all of our members to send letter also. I really appericate your effort to posting this because between this problem and high lvl's training monters in areas like Crawlers Nest and then zoning to leave 20 or 30 crawlers at entrance when you and your party enter to go lvl up and you and your whole pty is wiped out, is not the way the game is to be played. I have high lvl friends who have camped in areas for hours for NM to pop and when it does it is stolen by some high lvl person who knows where the NM pops and the time it pops. These friends are hunting NM for the gil so they can get married in the game. Since most of us know that getting married in the game is very costly and getting drops from 1, 2 or even 3 NM can pay for any weddings in the game. I have witnessed and been a victim myself as well as the members of the parties I have been in to see trains of high lvl monsters 10 20 even 30 of them trained by someone and then they zone leaving aggroed monsters behind to kill who ever enters area, or to have monsters come back to areas killing us off one at a time, weather they are trying to get us to leave area or just playing a joke so they may hunt and find NM on their own is not right for us who are trying to lvl up the right way.Sure we make a few mistakes and get our own selfs killed at times with a lesson learned but this is suppose to happen and accidents will happen, but when it is intentional as well as premeditated this is wrong and not right or fare to any of us no matter what server we are on. This is not only becoming a game issue, it is becoming a sever issue as well, for it looks like it is happening on all servers. These issues are not making the game fun to play anymore. We have no challenges to look forward to achiving. I hope and pray that we are heard and this issues are taken care of because if they wait to long to take some action, I 'm affaid alot of people will be quiting the game. If the only thing that gets mangements attention is money being lost by players quiting the game than they are a day late and a dollar short. Shoulda, woulda, coulda's don't count because it's now to late to get back what they have lost. Beacause I myself have been asked to be married in the game and we can't even set a date cause we need to get more gil up first. These gil farmers are making it impossible for us. I hate to be beating a dead horse here but in order to get this to stop all of us have to try to do our best to keep sending letters faxes emails and even phone calls to get the attention of the people in charge that have the power to take action aginst these violators and or hackers. When the game stops being fun and a good time with online friends then it is time to quit and find another game to play. I have seen alot of friends I have meet since I have been playing the game quit beacuse of these reasons, right now I would rather fight this issue with everything I got and try to win and leave quiting the game my last resort. So count me in for this fight and I will try to get as many people as I can to join this fight in hopes we can be heard with a solution to this issue. Many thanks for posting this. Happy gaming and take care and be safe.
Best Wishes

and due to the renewed interest, I will be starting to update the mailing list again in the OP....

so everyone be sure to check it out

anne, I might recommend to your friends that they hit the utsusemi quest and sell it, one each. that should more than cover the cost of their wedding (my own is running me 130k).

If they've both already done this, they could always have one create a mule and drag it along to get norg fame up, kazham keys, and do the quest (as it just requires a lot of sneaking around, really)

Off-topic, but i consider anyone trying to get married in this game a kindred spirit.

Something that came up in the original thread but has thus far not been mentioned is the acceptance of advertising from gil-selling companies on various game- and ff-related sites.

It might be worth mentioning this in letters, as this advertising certainly does not help our cause.

Sites that come to mind are:

www.gamefaqs.com
www.eyesonff.com
www.ffonline.com

Writing these folk asking them to take down the advertising is also recommended.

Feel free to let me know of any other gil-seller advertising.
#46 Nov 06 2004 at 7:13 PM Rating: Good
that is actually why I have the gamefaqs suggestion email in the list....

I'll get the other two in the list as soon as I find the contact info

I have most definately sent a letter to each of the emails on the list as well as a letter to each of the editors of GameInformer Magazine. Along the lines of GameInformer, i had also added a long description about the players in FFXI becoming fed up with this act of "Gil-Selling" (quite indepth). But as for replies from anyone, i will let you all stay posted on that issue

Oops, sorry Taliph.

RW concerns lately have left me a bit frazzled, and I somehow missed that. =P

Still, I suppose it doesn't hurt that it was mentioned again. I find it to be a huge problem.
#49 Nov 07 2004 at 9:31 PM Rating: Good
not just that, nat... but you gave me a few other sites to get the emails/web forms for...

your post wasnt in vain... rate up^_^
