I apologize for the blank post, error on my part. Anyway, what is it I must do to obtain the halloween items such as the trick staff and such? I've traded 4 stacks of items to the NPCs, only to be given a useless costume. What is it I must do?!

Ooo how do we do this? -had no clue there was a halloween event-
#5 Oct 23 2004 at 3:11 AM Rating: Good
Ok. Basically, I know what to do for Windy at least.

You get sweets, and trade them to the monster npcs. They will either randomly transform you into a monster costume (which are really cool), or give you a trick staff II or a pumpkin head hat.

Sweets must be traded, but oranges will work as sweets.

Its fun!

And trick staff II has the enchantment Warp with it...need I say more?^^

YOu can get

Trick Staff
Trick Staff II
Pumpkin Hat
Pumpkin Hat II
Jack o' Lantern

And that's all I've confirmed. Just trade the Trick monsters and Vendor NPCs that are in costume a sweet and then something'll happen. It's random as to what item you get (which sucks).

I've sunk 15k into this tonight alone, although 6k of it was sunk into something that'll make me money >_>

The FFXI message advised against giving the same treat over and over... do you guys think the system actually made it so if you give the same treats, your percent chances of getting the good items will be reduced?

This may be a stupid question, but you never know!

And if you can give the same item? What's the cheapest item I can give? If Nightsintodreams is right, I can give oranges! I'm sort of poor, so seeing people toss more than 10k for these items is scaring me : (

No need to toss lots of money into this - fruit works as a sweet thing.

I think the most annoying part of it is trying to catch the darned trick mobs - I tried a good 10 times to give one a cookie and the instant I hit trade, they were out of range. >.<

(Well, that and the fact the price of pies has gone up like whoa. x.x )

Not anymore, since people are shouting in the streets that you can use fruit. Damn you all :p Heh, that's ok, because I needed to make pies for skillups in cooking anyway. 51 last night!

You can also get a Horror head and Horror Head II.
I've gotten all the items from several stacks of oranges.
Also, if anyone knows how to recharge the enchantments for the trick/treat staff IIs, make sure to let us know.

so far ive gotten Horror Hat II and Pumpkin Hat II, and Trick Staff II.

I think everyone gets their first item right away, and their second item soon after. It's getting the rest of the items that takes time, and a loooooot of money. For me, as soon as I get my Horror Head, I'll be very glad, because Trick and Treat Staff II is not worth the time investment, nor the glory of saying I got all 8 items :)

Took me about 30+ stacks of Saruta Oranges to get:

Trick Staff
Pumpkin Head
Jack o' Lantern x2

Cost me about 10k, since I bought Oranges at 31g each with the NPC vendor in Windy Waters.

Is this normal? I lost my first Trick Staff on stack number 2 because my inventory was full : ( It wasn't until stack 20 or so when I got it back. At stack 25, I got Pumpkin Head. If it truly is all random, then I must have some bad luck... unless you guys have worse stories to tell >.<

Hum, I'm 6/8 atm, I got these 6 items with about 30 stacks of oranges. But now, I traded about 60 stacks and got 12 Jack-o'-lantern. Is it just bad luck, or do I have to do something else ? I want the Treat Staff and the Horror Head ... *sigh*, hopefully, after the event, the prices of the lanterns will go up ...

I've heard that you can only get 1 item per game day. Is this true? Can someone confirm this.

the good thing is, this is not true

I'm talking about game days. Like about every RL hour. Yesterday included about 24 game days.
#21 Oct 25 2004 at 2:41 AM Rating: Good
ok... as for game days, he says that none of them were aquired within the same hour, so it very well could be that you can only get one item per game day

tho I dont have any definitive proof of that
#22 Oct 25 2004 at 3:29 AM Rating: Good
I can confirm that you can get multiple items in the same game day. I got a Pumpkin Hat and a Trick Staff during the same 20 min period.

Yes, now that I think of it, I have never gotten two items in the same game day, other than Jack O'Lanterns. However, I found that you may have to spend up to 3 stacks to get your first item.

The items I recieved, in order are:

Items for Kerikun (My mule)
-------------------------------
Trick Staff (Traded 1 stack to get item)

Items for Luminara
-------------------------------
Trick Staff (Traded 3.5 stacks to get item)
Pumpkin Head II (Traded 3 more stacks to get item)
Jack O'Lantern (Traded 2 more stacks to get item)
Jack O'Lantern (Traded 3 more items to get item)
Horror Hat II (Traded 2 more stacks to get item)
Jack O'Lantern (Traded 2 more stacks to get item)
Trick Staff II (Traded 1 more stack to get item)

As for my method, I would use only oranges and go around to all of the NPC's in a circle, then go to Northern San, circle NPC's, return to Southern San, and so forth.

Boiling this down, it does seem valid to me that you don't get more than one equippable item per game day.

EDIT: Fixed seperation of item list between characters.
