So I'm running around harvesting in West Sarutabaruta tonight, happily collecting everything i can get, and I see that I have competition. No problem, I stay out of his way, and at one point when we're both running towards the same harvesting point, I let him take it and go off to find another. A few minutes later, I get this tell:

???>>Shame on you
Byaina>> What for? *blink*
???>> you are at LEAST a level 60
Byaina>> yeah... and I'm leveling clothcrafting...?
???>> and yet you are out here taking the noob harvest spots
Byaina>> You have to be kidding me.

and so on. He sent me a number of tells, getting more and more belligerent while I got more and more bewildered, and finally blisted him. Now to be honest, I just don't like Giddeus, I don't find the harvesting spots as easy to get to, and I've honestly never had more success there than I have in West Sarutabaruta, so I prefer to stay there. And I've never, ever, EVER had anyone attack me like this before. You'd think harvesting spots don't respawn immediately, or that I was picking up the same ones this guy was already harvesting.

So now I'm still in West Saturabaruta, still bewildered and wondering wtf to do now. I suppose I could go to Giddeus now, but then he wins. :P But I feel like a jerk continuing to harvest here. /sigh Someone say something reassuring, for goodness' sake (please?).

Radish!

But seriously, you're fine! It's not like they're going to run out of harvesting spots anytime soon. Unless of course Ifrit decides to 2 hour x 10000000.

Farming is not the same thing as exping. There's no reason you should have to go to some high level area to farm, just because Joe Blow over there couldn't get to it...ESPECIALLY when it comes to harvesting.
It's possible to harvest at about three places in the entire world of vanadiel.

He was just trying any tactic he could to get all the points for himself. There are a million ways to try to push someone else out of the area, and he decided to use guilt; eh, ***** 'im. There's no level cap on farming ^^

In fact, if he was such a 'noob', it's doubtful he needed the money as much as you did anyway, so all the more reason to tell him to stfu ;)

Edit: I can't spell Joe Blow

Yeah, there need to be more areas to harvest. Mining/Logging/Excavating have like four zones or more each, but Harvesting only has two.

Heh. You should have threatened to train mobs on him if he didn't shut up. :P

Not to mention that for most harvesting/logging/mining/fishing, different areas yield different things. What might be plentiful in lowbie areas, might not even exist in areas with higher lvled monsters. For shame on that other gatherer.

You're absolutely right Merodi, and unfortunately that didn't even occur to me until after I'd let this guy guilt me into going to Giddeus: I can't get crawler cocoons in Giddeus, and that's the one thing I really need at this stage of my crafting. Grrr... ><

I've had this problem before - whenever I see anyone running toward the same point as me I usually clear out of their way and head to the other end of the zone. I'm too polite that way I suppose ^^; I have had someone call me an *** before, simply because I ran and harvested something before I guess they saw the point or something, but its not my fault if 1) they didn't see if before I did, and 2) I didn't know they were there harvesting anyway. I still don't see what the big deal is though, there's fifty other spots just waiting to be gotten. Just because you're too lazy to go run around, don't get rude and obnoxious. Bah, people.

Oh, and if you want, I have three cocoons in my inventory I'm not using and am too lazy to sell. Just let me know who to send to and you can have any I harvest. ^^

Anyone at -all- need moko grass or marjorum? Its just sitting, wasting inventory space right now.

I could use a bit of marjoram for cooking this weekend - I ought to be on after 8-ish eastern, so if you want, send me a /tell. :)

Back on topic - that guy was being a jerk. Why begrudge anyone a farming spot? I figure other people need the money as much as I do, and I'm happy to share space.

I don't think that you should feel bad at all. I have a mule that I use for mining, and mining period and I am constantly in Zeruhn Mines (not high enough to live through a trip to Palborough). This behavior isn't just found in harvesting. Even though mining and logging have more zones to do so, you find the same crap. I try to be nice, I don't mine a spot someone has 'claimed' and I still get grief. I will even run by someone and give them a /cheer just to try and show that I am there for the same reason they are, not to make them miserable..but there is always that ONE guy that is going to make your trip to mine/log/harvest a test of patience.

Its fresh marjoram, freshly harvested, just so you know ^^ I can go ahead and send it to your moogle the next time I get on, since my hours are a little weird the next few days.

And I figure its just because some people are greedy and selfish. And possibly lazy (ie, "Ugh, you mean I have to go run around some more looking for a point because you stole mine? *******.") I actually enjoy running all over Altana's half acre finding new spots to dig in the dirt. Maybe I'm just weird.

TO say the least, I usually try to be considerate of people trying to level and not kill EVERYTHING in the area. As for farming, it's all competition, and a first come first serve basis.

Are you sure since I am certain that I had gotten plenty of crawler cocoons while harvesting in Giddeus. Not too mention the lovely mugwort ^^

Seeing as you don't need a certain level in order to harvest you aren't doing anything wrong at all. Just keep on harvesting and ignoring that guy. He's the jerk, not you.

GPTurismo, I was harvesting, not farming. No mob-killing involved.

xTenken, I've never gotten a single crawler cocoon in Giddeus! Maybe I'm just unlucky? :/

Anyway, thanks for confirming that I got jerked, guys. ;P Now I don't feel like such a jerk myself anymore. Rolanberry pies for everyone!
