I was there with Hogosha and Merodi that fateful night, and although I did not arrive until after the incident Hogo mentioned, I have to agree that lack of sleep and tiredness does play a crucial role when attempting missions.
After the party wipeout, I was on my way to Raise the party, as i cannot bear to see my favorite Mithra in distress (yes Merodi, that's YOU!). When I arrived, I was very happy to discover they had all received RaiseIII's instead of my weak RaiseII. Hurray!
The party was short a member, and asked me to stay and help, and i gladly obliged, as I am always up for a great NM Beating.
We finally get everybody in the right spot, we get two additional tanks (who linked to us via alliance, since the party was full) and i thought: "Oh yeah this one is in the bag".
Boy, was I ever mistaken! It could be that I was very sleepy, as it was almost 5am here in FL; It could be that I was tired, as I had been exp'ing and NM'ing and Avatar'ing since 1pm;
Whatever the reason, I completely FORGOT that the two main tanks were in alliance with us and concentrated in healing my party. I found it very odd that our tank's HP bar was not getting any lower, and I relaxed the healings even further.
30 seconds later, I look up in the top right corner of my screen and I realize: OMG, We have an Alliance, and our main tank is in the RED!!!!!!! Sure enough, before I could cast my first CureV on him, he was dead.
We managed to kill the Bomb NM, and the rare/ex item our party THF needed dropped. Hurray, I thought, at least this wasn't a complete disaster.
Well, that's when things -really- turn south. Our dead tank was SO VERY MAD (understandably so), that he instant warped (after I Raise II'd him) and disbanded the alliance before the thf could cast lots, and we lost the item.
Ok, Dieing sucks, I know. Yes, Raise II will cost you 400-500 exp and you'll have to kill 2-3 extra mobs to recover. Yes, I get upset when I die too. But would it have killed the Tank to wait 1 extra minute until the THF had received his item?
I apologized many, MANY times to the player who died due to my incompetency, but he has yet to acknowledge me.
I'm happy to say that this will not, in any way, shape or form, however, change my willingness to help my online friends in times of need.
Ahhh, that felt good, thanks for letting me vent a bit ^^
