OK what level are they anyway? I was told that if I was 45-50, a party can get them for me or I could join one but that didn't happen (mostly due to the discouragement I got here), but now I see people shouting for level 65+'s only. OK so apparently there's no cap on the fights? And dear lord why the demand of high level?
I'm just really curious about that, because I'm working my little Taru butt off to get to 55 in the hopes I can join one, and now they say level 65s...
I'm really really really confused now.

i think cause the avatar fights are so hard (they are all 60+) you need a well balanced group of 60+ (65+ is probably being safe) since only 6 of you can enter the fight. These guys (so i hear) pack a wallop (not like your wussy lvl 20 mini-fork fight). a lvl 55 would probably gimp the party and could make the difference between victory and defeat. i hear ya thought. I would really like Fenrir. But since you need to beat all prime avatars and get the whispers BEFORE you even attempt the fight....well, you get my point. /sigh
5 x level 65+ is recommanded for most(6th slot is for the SMN). For Fenrir, you will need 5 x level 75 (You still might lose). SMN is not a beginners job. Titan, Garuda, Leviathan, Fenrir are a must, else you will be gimped. I don't see the rest be used as much, Ramah and Ifrit are nice to have but not very commonly used.
SE made avatar BC so damn hard because there are money rewards involved. And these BC are repeatable every 24 rl hours. I've heard that the SMN 1v1 fight with lvl 20 cap is actually doable if you just want the summons. SMN are useless if they are missing summons. They will be just a gimped healer with alot of mana but heals at 1/2 the healing skill of a regular WHM. And no Raise II+ at later levels.
But at 70, SMN become a super offensive caster that does 800-1000 damage every 1 min or so. SMN is by far the LATEST boomer job of all the jobs.
