Tired of LSes where you're just a name?Follow

I don't even want to talk about the problems with linkshells today, but apparently hence the topic I am going to do so. Every linkshell I have joined up to this point has 40+ members and even when I search for smaller ones I never come up with results. In these standard LSes there is always a group of 10-15 people who were there when the LS was started and they do everything together. You, on the other hand, come in with the other 25 people who don't know anyone and you never do anything with your linkshell except maybe beg them for AF help. This is should be changed and I plan to start.

First of all, my character name is Arciana and I have a 40THF/20WAR. Maybe some of you have seen me camping Valkurm Emperor all the time. I lack in the level department but I try to make up for it gil-wise. Anyways, enough about bs about me, what I'm trying to say is are there any people here who are interested in joining an exclusive LS. Basically, that means you and maybe ONE close friend can join, not like 20 people from your last LS. The purpose of this LS is to have close relationships where everyone knows everybody. Events include Garrison, BCNM, set parties, you name it. Preferably we will get to a point where set parties are possible but it isn't necessary.

Anyways, LS will be called Retro or whatnot I'm not completely sure, just drop a post if you're interested and if I get enough responses I'll plan it this weekend or something.

Hey Astar,
I feel your frustration. I'd like to be part of a Ls that actually knows and helps each other out. I'm a bit short on time explaining further but I'll look for Arciana and send a </tell> when I log on tonight. I hope I can be an asset to your Ls, extending time and effort to make the group thrive in Bismarck.

Tired of joining large linkshells where you're a nobody? Well step right up Mister Mister, and join my linkshell! Anybody can join, it doesn't matter who you are!

So, uh. That's kind of like... "I want to make a linkshell, right? And.. anybody can join! It's gonna be so cool. We're all close friends, even though we've probably never met. But it's all good." ... right?

You can't call it Retro! This server is only big enough for one Retro LS! ^^!

There are linkshells out there like this (I'm in one) but the reason you don't hear about them...is because they aren't recruiting. The moment you "recruit" you change away from that kind of shell. You aren't inviting friends you want to do things with, you are inviting people you hope will become friends you want to do things with. Which is what those bigger LS'es start out wanting. And when they get a few, find they don't have anything really in common, they invite some more, hoping to come across one or two in the multitudes they've invited. And that's how you end up with 10-15 that are really close friends, and 25 that are just "there".

To get the kind of LS you are looking for, you have to just invite the people you have a great party with, people you bump into and have a nice chat with, or people that you see post all the time that you really like the attitude of. And don't just send out random invites hoping to find a "winner"

i can see how some people get frustrated when joining a new linkshell however there are some things we all need to consider when joining one. firstly you cannot jump into a linkshell and automatically expect people to be availiable for someone they dont really know yet. i know weve had some people join our ls and after initial [hello!] its followed by a "can you all help me get my genkei 1 items now?" my linkshell is pretty good at helping everyone within the shell advance by helping with genkeis, missions, powerleveling, etc. just keep in mind that sometimes you have to earn it by assisting others before one makes requests of the shell. take Dominion for instance...we try to regularly schedule missions, genkeis, af hunts for our members because eventually it all pays off as everyone gains lvls and we can move on to bigger and better things as a ls. something to keep in mind though is in a ls that has goals to get high enough to do HNM many of its members are pushing exp in order to get high enough lvl to compete. when i started Dominion it was just a group of 6 in a set exp party and has evolved into something greater. we now consist of 25-30 members mainly between the 50-75 range but do take in lower lvls as long as they arent whiners, beggars, or headcases lol. to learn more about our success feel free to visit our new forums
