Allakhazam posters...same thing over and over?Follow

I haven't been reading the boards as much as I used to because I frankly don't have the time during the day anymore mainly because of my classes taking up most of my time, and at night is my FFXI time/Study time (hah right).

But, when I do get a chance to read the boards on my 3rd computer while I'm crafting or what not, it seems like the same crap over and over and over again. In the WHM forums, it's either some irate non-WHM venting about being killed cause of a bad WHM, on the main forum it's a lot of pixel-***** building, on the tradeskill forums someone is asking which craft to pick and/or ******** about HELM point stealers. Etc etc etc. Anyways...do you guys notice this? Or are you one of those forum junkies that will post (mainly because they're killing time at work I find) until that "Post Message" button doesn't light up anymore.

Just curious, maybe because I don't have the time I just don't take the boards as seriously anymore (however right now I'm trying to kill that last 7 minutes at work) because I don't have the time? Thoughts? Shameless Rate ups?

I agree.

At least on our forum there is a little more diversity, yet we too seem to have fallen into the rut.

*Edit* Shamelessly rated you up ^^

I agree, but amidst the annoying crap and the millions of flaming fight threads, there is still some useful stuff, and good stories mixed in. Just takes extreme patience to sift through it all.

Oh, and Shameless rate-up for Tweed O.~

Shameless Rate ups 4, Shameless Rate downs 1.

But seriously, was really wondering why you guys thought this board was like that. Maybe the EQ boards that I read were fueled by constant Drama.

EDIT: Yay, one of Hiptaru's friends rated me down without posting.

The general forumns can sometimes provide a good laugh, and other times a big /sigh. I'm looking for laughs.

Job forumns although repetitive, have very good information buried beneath the subjob topics. There are some really great players out there that aren't afraid to share some information.

As far as the Bismarck forumns, I agree, we are in a rut. There are some good ideas though. For example, the Fit for a prince thread is a great idea. Not to mention people that might not have a helpful linkshell, can attempt to get some scheduled help here.

And, lastly, it's a great time waste at work.

I try to have a little faith that humanity will eventually pull its collective head out of its collective brown-eye, but in that vain, I try to stay away from drama of all kinds, especially on the 'net.

that being said, you can probably see why I stick to the server forums rather then the wild known as "everything else" on alla... one of these days humans as a race will mature, untill then I guess its just up to us to do our personal best

I just check the server forums and Popsi's tradeskill sticky for any new craft guides. Other than that, I don't check Allah forums at all.

But I like the Bismarck forums because to me, having only checked these forums for maybe a month, it isn't the same thing over and over again (except perhaps the complaints about the Bad Players thread). People are willing to help each other, and most everyone is sensible and friendly. Me likey.

Shameless rate up for joo~

I'm developing a connection to you all... like a love connection. I couldn't even dream of leaving the Alla Bismarck forum now because I would propably cry myself to sleep for a month straight. You all have accepted me with open arms.. heart.. and other thigs....

I thank you for it!

Oh yeah plus I am bored at work ;)

I agree with the job forum's having good information buried there. I have learned quite abit from the Blm and Whm forums and threads and posts and passages... I spend a lot of time reading about FFXI... from anything to everything, just so I have a firm... grasp on things

Well, nobody that has just started or is only a few months into it asks questions anymore...everyone is a fuckin' genius these days, like they already know everything.

It's not like some of the much more informative posters than myself (ones of the past) are going to say, "Hmm, what random fu
cking knowledge am I gonna waste my time to contribute today?"

Everyone just has a gripe or a whine, but never asks anyone questions that really sparks an interest in the more veteran players like when I first came onto the boards. Because if you are new and you post a legitimate question, then some asshole comes along and goes off about how the question has been asked before in some obscure thread buried beneath 2 months of flame threads and weekend accomplishments. I remember when Winawer posted a very detailed thread about information people who never played BST would like to know about BST, and of course some cockmonkey had to jump in and be the first to say, "this should be in the BST forum :)"

Just my opinion, but everyone thinking they know everything already may have something to do with it. Or, at least they are too embarrassed to admit they are ignorant about something. Here, I'll get the ball rolling...Tweeds, what the fuck is HELM?

HELM is Harvesting, Excavating, Logging, and Mining. ^^

I actually tend to avoid asking questions because 9 times outta 10 I get flamed (in game).

For example, a guy I know and I were discussing the mandy BCNM40. He's a pally, and comments that he got made by Flood.

Now I'm not particularly familiar with the Ancient Magic spells. I didn't even know spells like Flood and Quake were called AM.

But he makes the comment that he got made by it because Paladin's have crappy magic resistance.

I make a comment along the lines of "Wow, even with the boost to mag. def. that you get from being Elvaan?"

He proceeds to make me feel retarded, because Flood does tons and tons of damage and mag def really wouldn't have mattered, and I didn't know that. (Now since that is the case I'd like to know why he even mentioned pally having crap mag def in the first place).

It's just a mentality that I see a lot, that if someone doesn't know every single little factoid about random item/spell/mob/quest #24893279432 that they're a complete moron. "OMG WHAT A ******* NOOB ROFLMAO unintelligble l33t follows". Asshats.

But alright, in the spirit of asking questions, here's mine. Does or does not Mihha's Amigo's build Windy fame? I have YET to get a clear answer on this. I also have yet to get a fame up
from doing it ><

And I also spelled her name wrong >< but I've got too much of a headache to look it up.

Nanna Mingho's Yagudo Necklace quest only builds Norg fame, not Windy fame. And thanks for the HELM answer!
#17 Oct 12 2004 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
Wow, then my Norg fame's gotta be something along the lines of "Nataraja! He whom the prophets spoke of! Our Messiah has come to us!" *npc proceeds to throw palm fronds at my feet*

Considering I haven't even been to Norg yet, that's really funny.

Perhaps I should make a trip...

Thanks for the rate up and the answer. Shameless rate up in return.

I admit it, in addition to being the prophesized messiah of norg, i'm also a karma *****. >.>
