Windy Fame?Follow

Anyone know any nice methods to gaining Windy Fame?
#2 Sep 27 2004 at 11:59 PM Rating: Good
Buy corenettes in bastok music shop, and trade them to some guy in windy, not sure who or where, and I am at work so don't want to spend time looking it up on the net.

I am sure you can find out who to trade them to.

Sweet, I've heard of that method, but I wasn't aware you could buy them from a shop...thought you had to farm them. It's on like donkey kong...which comes out wednsday....awwwww right!!

For some reason, repeatable quests don't work for me no matter how many times I do them. So I just went around and did a bunch of Windy quest for fame. They are a lot of fun and you can get some good items for them too. But I would love to figure out why I can't get repeatable quests to work...

Mandy crazy(in windhurst walls) is the quest he is talking about for windy fame. The corenettes you buy at the Brd shop in bastok ( if you have high fame in bastok they cost 215, 258 with no fame). 200 of them should max out your fame in windy. You get 200 gil back per corenette. bastok has to be in 1st or 2nd for the NPC to sell them.

One day I'd like to get my fame high enough in Windy to get that damn Aspir quest, simply so I can sell it and recoup the gil I spent on it in the first place. Right now I'm more interested in doing the "Smudge on One's Record" quest so I can get the map to Fei'Yin. Thing that kills me most about these Windy quests is that the repeatable quests that I know of involve Rare/Ex items, so you can't carry more than one at a time. A major pain in the butt. Much respect for those of you who grew up in Windy.

I'm doing the Drain quest right now... well... trying too! I am doing the Cabbage quest to raise my fame in sandy today.... I have one question, seems my partner in crime for this quest is confused on this.

In order to enter the castle in sandy... does my FAME or RANK need to be 3?

btw I'm from windy

If you are San d'Orian, you must be Rank 2 to enter the castle. As for the fame rating to actually get the quest, I cannot remember. I know that by the time I was able to enter the castle, I had enough fame to get the quest no problem. As for anyone from Bastok or Windy, you must either be on Mission 2/3 or have Rank 3 to enter the castle.

Hope that helps you out. ^^

Mandrogora Mad quest (Cornettes, Yuhtunga Sulfur, 4-leaf Mandrogora Buds) Windurst Waters, Yoran-Oran's Manor

Crawler Culler (not sure of the quest title, but you get this dumb title when you do it) Trade Crawler Calculus to the Mithra standing near the Dhalmel farm in Mithra Groves, Windurst Woods

These are both repeatable and yield at least a few hundred gil (600 for 3 crawler calculus, 250 for Yuhtunga sulfur, 200 for cornette)

There is also a repeatable quest with Beehive chips, I think it is the Mithra in Mithra Grove, Windy Woods who is at the table where they sell distilled water.

Windy has ALOT of non-repeatable quests, so just pick some and have at it.

Buy 10 stacks of Bastore Sardines and give yourself about 5 hours.

Then do this quest 70 times.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Windurst&fquest=137

This should give you well more fame than you will need for most quests. I used this method to get enough fame enough to do the mini-avatar battles based on avatar fame, the big tuning fork battles, and teleport mea as well as Warp II and a few other quests. I did most of the map quests here and a few rounds of cornets and crawler calculi as well though. So, if you haven't done any quests, 10 stacks is nessecary. If you've done about 10 unique quests or so, try 5 or 6 stacks. It takes all day as you have to zone. If you're a age with warp, just cast warp and remember to set your HP at the crystal located right by this quest giver in port.

By the time I was done I was ready to kill tokaka for telling me my fish was substandard. Just say, "ok...you're weird. or, dear god stop fishing!" But noooo, she just kept her act up.

Some Taru.... ><

I have a quick question about the cabbage quest in Selbina.... I traded the guy 28 stacks of Cabbage 5 at a time... my fame only raised to 2. Is this normal? Do I have to talk to him/ext zone and come back before trading to him each time? Not quite sure....

Namfoodle, thanks for the advice. Guess it's time for me to break down and buy another carbon rod and get to work, since I really would like to recoup that Aspir money, get the map to Fei'yin, etc, etc.

Just to think, I could have done that all along instead of selling off all those sardines I've caught. ><

Mission 2.1 (Lapiz Coral) will be the biggest pain in the *** for Rank 3. Just have a mage lvl 30+ sneak/invis you there, or buy some Prizm powder and Sneak Oil.

Before talking to gate guard again, donate a few stacks of crystals to the W.W. Midget at one of the gates (Shiva or Leviathon). Check your Rank Points Meter under Profile. Once this is full from crystal donation, talk to the gate guard again.

This will allow you to skip mission 2.2 (which you will want to do because it is a pain in the ***). Accept Mission 2.3. You must either:

1) Go to Bastok first and get some sand or some shit from the 3rd floor of Palborough Mines. Don't do this one, it kinda sucks. Go to Sandy first and kill Warchief Vatgit, he's a biotch.

2) After doing the Sandy part first, then you just need to get a pt to kill the Bastok dragon. We did it once with a level 12 in our pt for kicks. These dragons are cake. Be sure at least 3 members are lvl 25 at least, though.

Don't use cabbage or millioncorn, it takes forever. Buy stacks of Boyhoda moss. stack sells for 7.2k to 7.5k. Melyon will give you 600 gil per moss, one at a time. This = 7.2k per stack you give him so it is basically a wash. But your Jeuno fame will skyrocket. (Helps Bastok and Sandy fame, too...I believe).

I have only completed 2 Non-repeatable Jeuno quests and from hunting Goobbues for tree cuttings and turning in all the Boyhoda moss, my fame level in Jeuno is Hero, which is the best of the best.

ok so Moss... he gives me 600 per moss? and they are 7.5k a stack? I'm not loosing much then ok sounds good. I take it I should buy moss from the auction house? LOL my whole inventory is full of cabbage so I guess I will just go to him... give them all to him and warp back to Sandy to get some Moss...

This is a very tough journey just to get Drain without having to pay for it... but I guess I need to do the Ranks and Fame sooner or later so I think it works out for the best... Thanks all who have helped me!

OK one more quick question Trizz... how many stacks of Moss should I buy?

I also did the method suggested by Namfoodle, althought I did that as a last resort cause I had just about finished all other unique quests in windy. Now just so you know, I got all my avatars, tele-mea, warp 2, aspir, map of fey'in, etc.. now what I would do so you don't want to kill the Taru fishing guy, do as many uniques as you can, then go check if you can get "a smudge on one's record". If you can get this quest, you will be able to get every other 'significant quest' in windy. I had gotten all the other good quests (the ones mentioned above) and still couldn't get the 'smudge on ones record' so i decided to waste several hours of my life, which I will never get back, trading bastore sardines to the Taru on the dock. Warning...you will want to dropkick him into the far reached of the sea after zoning for the 95th time. Btw I am from Sandy, if that makes any difference

Yep 600 per moss. How many stacks? Just as many as you can afford at that time. Through farming I have probably given him close to 20 stacks of moss, but my fame reached Hero long before I was at my 20th stack. So, grab say 3 or 4 if you can afford it for starters. Then, once you make it to Jeuno talk to Merodi in Lower Jeuno. He is the fame checker for Jeuno.

Only problem with this is you have to zone each time after you do the quest and that can take some time. With the corenettes it is really easy if you are rank 5 or have a friend go to bastok and just keep sendin them 2 you. wear no gear and you can carry 40 of the if you didn't do any of the gobbie bag quest. You can just stay at the NPC and keep turning them in. I did this really quickly but I have a air ship pass and all the gobbie bags.

Buy a bunch of coronettes, then send them to yourself. Go into your Bastokan rent-a-room (or mog house) and go to the delivery box. Hit "Return to sender" then go back to the delivery service and send yourself some more coronettes. Rinse, repeat.

This *should* work as an easier way of transporting them.

One thing about fame garnered in Selbina. Your Norg fame is taking a hit from getting Selbina and Mhura fame.
#26 Sep 29 2004 at 6:57 AM Rating: Decent
Its very easy to rate up fame in Windy. Trade Crystals with Guard, that gives you that signet on. Use Earth Crystals, since they arent worth the slot in Auction house sales.

^^ that hint comes from a newb, gah do you even play that game, or do you just looking into your hint lists? :p
