it is hard to judge power versus a MOB.

example: a 75 Uber WAR may kick the crap out of any quadav/orc/gob but would strugle on an elemental.

whereas a 75 Uber BLM would get his *** handed to him by a high level beastman but could school an elemental.

I would guess the most powerful combo (versus MOBs) would be a RDM/NIN. I saw one soloing a Ruby Quadav while i was doing genkei 3 and he beat the crap out of it.

On the other hand a well equipped BST could kick *** too. I think the classes are too well balanced for there to be a "most powerful" job and therefore there cannot eb a "most powerful" player.

If you mean in terms of politics, ie who has the most pull on things that happen in the server I would say no one.

Just for the fun of it, I'm going to say a MNK VS Skeleton type mobs.

From what I know, the most powerful group on the server is the Lunarians LS, if you ever take a look at Pellaz, he leads the shell and his equipment is the best possible. Kirin's Osode and genbu's everything else.

The most powerful player is the one that can walk into an area packed with IT mobs, and walk unafraid.

Red Mage all the way baby.

(I <3 you, Sneak and Invis)

Power can be defined as helping people out and having the most influence on other people as well... Power isn't necessarily destruction... I would think a level 70 player who tries his best to help out others and is nice to be more powerful than a 75 richard (****)

Uhhh, sorry but no. IRON and Lunarians compete for the top but they are really similar. But today BUNCH of high-lvl (75s) people from another ls I know joined IRON... you never know. They're both pretty good ls, but they are definately the 2 BEST ls on bismarck.

Lunarians has some of the best equipped players in the server. Hell, just look at Macross or Fira or Wild at any point in time and prepare to have your jaw drop. I don't know any of the players in IRON, whereas I know almost all of the Lunarians.

Compete how? We've dominated alot of the HNMs and kill the Gods and Kirin on a weekly basis not to mention hosting Dynamis and such. We also have the equipment to prove what we have accomplished together. IRON is catching up but haven't reached our level yet.

Averyl, IRON, and ArchDominious (forgot spelling) are the other main HNM linkshells on the server. There's one that Jimy is in but it keeps getting rebuilt weekly.

Yeah Pellaz got the Osode last weekend. We did Kirin twice that day and the second time was the jackpot. The Osode and 2x Wyrmal Abjurations for the legs dropped I believe.

Yeah Lunarians and IRON are both awesome LS...but I'd have to lean more towards IRON just because they're a bit more modest about just how good they are lol. Macross has to be THE best equipped RDM I've ever seen...but also one of the most stuck up players on the game lol...the people I've met from IRON tend to be nicer and don't brag if they've got insanely nice gear either.
Then I guess, to me, it's not just how much power you have, it's how you deal with it. Hehe, so I'm not completely sure my opinion counts here =/

Nice/modest/etc. does not equal powerful. Just pointing that out ;)

My vote is for the gilfarmers.

They are powerful enough to generate three full threads about themselves on this forum without ever posting here themselves. They generate more animosity than Bill Gates and they have a large impact on the economy. Since HNMs only affect high-end items, really, I'd say those who flood the market with newbie items are more powerful, given that they wield a lot of control over the banks of a lot more players.

My 2 gil.

I find it hard to believe that any ls on our server is as strong as the Lunarians. I've known about the lunarians since before NA release. My LS was doing a key hunt in garlaige tonight with minimal success. As usual the first people to get keys were the people from outside our ls, and then were the first to excuse themselves from the joy of key hunting. So it's around midnight and we need 3 more keys. Our only treasure hunter had to log out, so I started looking for a thief to help us. I nicely asked a random 57 thief by the name of Iggystar. Iggy came down and helped us get the three keys in an hour and a half. And what would you know, Iggy is a member of the Lunarians. Hmmm helping people you've never met get coffer keys... you're right they are stuck up.

I see Iron floating around down in Lower Jeuno from time to time, if you look at all the achievements of Pellaz and the Lunarians, you will see they do not lack humility, I think they are a very good bunch of people.

Unfortunately I have never talked to anyone from IRON, so I cant make a comparison, the only thing I do know, I'm working on hitting 70 with my MNK, in hopes of joining such an adventurous LS.

Seems there are more powerful NA LS on Bismarck than the others.

Nobody is "teh powerful" because we are all digitally generated characters in a fantasy game. Neither the Lunarians nor Iron (never heard of either of them til the big thread war, but I do think the Lunarians have an impressive website)can do anything to anyone to show apparent "power."

I tire of people being in aww of someone because he/she has uber gear or high levels. It only means one single solitary thing. That person has simply owned the game longer than you and has stuck with it. That's it. If someone struts around actually thinking they are cool because they have a level 75 job, that 14 yr. old needs to really get a life.

#24 Sep 28 2004 at 2:50 PM Rating: Good
Obtaining a Kraken club, or Kirin's osode is not in any way a direct result of having the game longer.

First, for these gods and HNM, you need a very good LS. Not just a good LS, but very good equipment, and a balanced fighting group.

When I say Balanced PT, I mean 6-18 Good players (If you didn't notice, there are a vast majority of greedy, idiotic players)

Finding an alliance of people who know how to play their job well is incredably tough, and one idiot can ruin it for a whole alliance.

Now for god HNM, like Kirin, were talking about 2 full alliances, one to fight Kirin, and one to fight the gods Kirin spawns.

Now we are talking about organizing 36 people to fight one HNM, and this one HNM MIGHT drop a Kirin's Osode, or some other uber item. Who gets this item? usualy the person who worked their *** off to build an incredably well organized LS full of good players who cantake on the hardest god HNM in the game..

And Dynamis, just as hard!

If you see someone like Pellaz, in uber gear, you can believe it is not just because he has had the game longer. I've heard of people to go so far as to take off from work for a year to play this "Game."

No, they have attained level 75, rank 10, and uber equipment becvause they worked their *** off for it.

yup, they sure did "work" their *** off... /farewell social life! Might explain why >>**some**<< ( just making sure you guys don't think I'm generalizing ) of them act like complete a-holes

Well they may have worked their *** off by playing the game for more hours, learning the skills and abilities to be the best FFXI player they can be, but it still takes time. Which means having owned the game longer than someone who has only had it for 4 months. You can be as good as you want and it still takes TIME, which in turn = owning the game longer.

None of this equals "power" as stated in the original sock puppets question. Power in this game would be control over someone else. Unless we are talking Ballista, I never knew a player could attack and dominate another player, but maybe I am missing something.

This is my hobby, and as in all hobbies I take pride in doing it well. But, if someone who has a Rank 10 level 75 player on a video game and actually gets up from his or her chair after a big Kirin battle and thinks they are teh shit needs to get a grip.
