3) Now for a delicate subject..... IMHO I tend to prefer a BLM over a RNG... not because of damage potential..... but because the BLM seems to have learned when to nuke and when not to nuke whereas the RNG hasn't necessarily realized this lesson. I've been in parties with good RNGs and bad RNGs and sometimes it seems that the class relies so much on their damage-dealing capability that it forgets that the mob will suddenly decide to chomp on the person who just did 2000 points of damage to it. If you're a RNG, please be kind to us healers and try to moderate your hate so we don't have to use Cure IVs and Cure Vs on you to keep you alive instead of healing the tank. ^^
And this is why we sub NIN. Utsusemi gives us a buffer and also gives mages a warning that we may need healing too, and gives us time to stop shooting (if we're using long-delay type weapons such as guns) so that we don't get screwed by the mob, as that'll happen in like 3 hits anyway. I'm guessing you're talking about the RNG/WARs out there that love slapping Berserk + Barrage down on the enemy just to see the big pretty numbers, huh?
Well, I'm going to personally apologize for those types, as most RNG know when to stop shooting. I'll also add that every class has it's bad eggs, and those are the bad RNG.
Back on topic, I never make my own parties (I'm too lazy to take charge of something), but one of the best party set-ups that I've been in was the following:
PLD RNG/NIN RNG/NIN BRD WHM BLM
The mobs were dead so fast that the WHM looked around and said in shock, "hey, who stole our mob? that's not cool." The power of 2 RNGs in a party (with Prelude ^^), I guess.
Oh, I just remembered something, too. If you're in a party with a THF and RNG with no voke other than the main tank, don't use the RNG as the SAnTA partner. Please? It's dumb. We die. Thanks.
