I had a weird dream involving Bismarck, the giant white whale summon from FF6 .. I think it's an omen. I hate my damn server (Midgardsormr) .. it's full of elitist garbage and overpriced crap (SUPER expensive Snipers Signa etc)...
How is Bismarck? This forum is REALLY active and I don't see a lot of whining like the Midgardsormr forum..
I know things like Sniper and Signa are REALLY uber and should be high priced but these prices are nuts, whats worse there are LS who CONTROL HNMs for hours to jack up the prices to "their liking" ...
Anyway.. this is embarassing but I think the dream is telling me something, lol.

About Bismarck...
Ok, we are an old (beta) server, with several lvl 75 players. We are a small server too, so prices at the AH are higher than probably what you are expecting. However, we DO have a growing problem with gil sellers that have been popping up recently. In general though, despite what the Bad Player's Thread tells you, most of the people on this server are REALLY REALLY nice people, and are never afraid to help someone out who wants some help. I am proud to call several of them my friends in fact (something I was NEVER able to say when I briefly played EQ).
Casinos? I have not been on in a bit, but the largest (and I think best known casino) seems to have a rather reputable owner by the name of Hiptaru running it. PLZ don't rate me down for that anyone lol! I am not endorsing casinos, just stating what i have heard and read.
You will probably be pretty happy here, at least IMHO.

Honestly I really like our server.
Prices are nuts on high level stuff, maybe that will change but who knows.
Yes there are gil farmers and other annoying individuals that make life hell some days.
But the redeeming quality is we have a lot of players who either come here or meet in game and keep each other advised and actually give a crap about the game ^^ For example, take the moronathon, this is only one way that demonstrates the great people. They take time out of their gaming to set up and coordinate events like this. I think that's awsome (even though I've never participated).

Awesome, thanks for the great feedback. I realize LS' controlling prices and jerk incondierate Gilfarmers are everywhere, they can't be stopped. My biggest gripe with Midgardsormr is the Japanese players who REFUSE to party with Americans. Again, I know every server has this, but I speak Japanese fluently and at first I tried to communicate with them, but they are so hateful toward Americans.. I mean in certain cases I can understand why.. we can be pretty stupid. But hey, no one is perfect.
In the end, what I'm looking for is good quality people to enjoy FFXI with, and so far you guys seem great! I don't see any "omg my NM was stolen" or "omg prices sux!!!" threads here. hehe
And don't get me wrong.. I love the Japanese, they MADE Final Fantasy =D But I think they should not give us such a hard time, Midgardsormr would be a better place if JPN/ENG could actually PT together on a regular basis..
Well, I am to your server as a Warrior, but am going to end up a THF. Name undecided but I'll let you know. I will be a Bastokan Hume..
oh yeah, not to me egotistical by any means, but I know my stuff and I know it well, I never beg for gil, I know how to earn it. I will be looking for an Active LS accepting a fast leveling player. (1-10 in a day, then 4-6 lvls a day after that til about 40 because my brother plays with me) ..
So if anyone is interested give me a chance. =]

I think the reason you don't see those kinds of threads here is that we're all fairly intelligent ^^ We have a few trolls roll through every once in a while (view the Bad Player list with the filters off, you'll see who I'm talking about) but all in all everyone is like minded in that they like to help each other.

Bismarck is the best server around. I usually dont have too many problems partying with JP's although i do get the occasional JP only pt no thanks, but its usually polite. Most Jp's ive partied with have been pretty polite, although who knows what theyre saying in japanese.
Bismarck does not seem to have any uber jerks. I don't think there is one person who everyone hates, yet.
It is a friendly server for the most part, and people seem happy to be here, little complaints in game about gil/players/parties.

It's great to hear you want to come and join our server! It really is a great one. I have rarely ever had any problems with anyone and everyone is rather easy to get along with. We will stop what we are doing to /wave to a friend or just someone who we happen to know from around these forums.Most people are also very helpful too and I usually don't have many problems finding someone who will aid me in whatever mission I have planned. The Japanese players are also nice and don't mind partying with NA players also which is great. Prices can be steep at times but I don't have too much of a problem with that.
Well I hope to be seeing you around Bismarck in the future. And if you ever need help don't hesitate to send me a /tell. Also if you are interested in a LS you can surely join the one I am a member of.

What a wonderful welcome... See, it is things like this thread that make me proud to be Bismarckian. I do read other server forums somethimes, and there is a LOT of complaining. The only real complaining I've seen here are about the gil farmers and the casino. The casion problem was ended in a peaceful and mature way. I agree with Nights on that one, Hiptaru... you rock!

I havn't heard of the moronathon? what is it? Also yes people do, Do things like this....I for instance every once in a while put on a big fireworks show in south sandy by the fountain for about a half hour. Anyone can come, AND participate...it is a lot of fun.
P.S. if any1 has extra fireworks they dont need from say fishing and whatnot, donations would be much appreciated because it is very costly to buy them.

I have noticed the Japaneese are very friendly on our server.
Some of them were more than happy to help me get a few Advance Jobs.
