My friend is on Caitsith and people have formed a group called...Oh I can't remember...something like: When black mages go bad or something like that.

They are going to form a party of all Black Mages of about lvl 25-26 and just go nuke everything in sight.

I think it would be fun to just do something ridiculous like that. Of course...at that level you'd lose some exp when dying so not sure I'd want to do that. But it would be very funny to see.

Just wanted to let you all know that I think this first official race is going to be a great success^^. I've had a lot of people ask me about it and I've told alot of people about it and they all seem keen on coming. Although they did ask for a reminder on here and online the day before or so. Hopefully I will remember to do that.

Here's to a successful first run out of hopefully many. Just wanted to say Thanks again to Byaina for being the only who who got off their butt and got this whole thing started^^. Hopefully It will be the start of A LOT of new fun on Bismarck!!

**I'm trying to think of an event where even those who no longer have any jobs at lvl 1 (most of my friends ><) can also participate. Maybe we should make that our next goal?

I gotta say, I sorta like Moronathon... though I did make up Moron's Marathon... well, I'll be there next Sunday.

Ballista might be a fun thing for people with no jobs at 1, because most other things that are like the Moronathon can have harsh penalties (exp loss, for one).

There could be some kind or crazy moronathon for people who dont mind losing exp, where you take a job thats somewhere around 30 and run it through an insanely high leveled zone... I don't think anyone would find that too much fun though ^^;.

Hmmm... While thinking about Ballista, I just had an idea. You could participate in an uncapped ballista, using fairly low leveled jobs, and see who can last the longest. That would be pretty crazy... running around with a level 75 behind you trying to kill you.

Unfortunately my ideas aren't close to as good as the Moronathon, but what could be. All my ideas are seem kind of... cruel, I guess >.>

Anyway... I was wondering if another committee member would be needed or wanted, since I would be glad to help... Just give me a /tell in game...

I'm typing too much...this is the end of my post

Okay folks, we have a couple of last-minute things we need to establish here.

First, I'm going to take charge of holding all the entry fees and distributing prizes at the end, if nobody minds. People can give their money to whichever referee/committee member they register with, but I'll keep it all for the duration of the race.

Second, we have yet to decide who is going to referee the race. I suppose some of that will depend upon how many parties/alliances we end up with, but as of right now I think we only have five people (me, Ele, Demon, Dnoth, and Ishido) to volunteer and I think we're going to have more than 30 people participating, from what I've heard. We may need to recruit more referees.

Third, still on the topic of referees, we still haven't decided who is going to run the race and who's going to sit it out to be the checkpoint judges or the ones monitoring the routes themselves. Again, I suppose some of this will depend upon how many people show up to run the race but we do kind of need to decide. I'm willing to sit the first race out - I'll do as I suggested and ride on chocobo along with the racers - but I think we probably need one more person to do that so we have one person at the start and end of every zone.

Or we could just have a total free for all. XD Your choice.

One last thing - about prizes, were we going to go with the idea of having a "no-prize" of sorts for different categories - ie, first death, most extravagant escape (Ele would have won this ten times over in our trial race), longest train, and so on? If so we'd probably better establish those categories and such first but I guess we'll have time before the race too.

I'd like for the "committee" members to meet up in Bastok an hour before the race, if we can, so I can distribute linkpearls and we can do our last-minute planning. I'll be sending all of you tells tonight to confirm this stuff but I might as well post it here too.

Here's to a successful event!

LoL, ok that meeting never happened ><

But we will have to do that for sure before the next race :)

I have a consideration here. 2 hr's should also be considered illegal. Gano pointed out that a thf could use perfect dodge when they get aggroed. So I think I will add that to the rules but I just wanna make sure with you guys first.

Letsee, i like this thread too: following events i have done or am doing:
Bastok Comedy Klub Show: a show that plays more like a variety show with contests, stand up, skits, and other various things , happens anywhere from twice a week to once every 3 weeks.
Chocobo Grand Prix: Had a 50k gil grand prize, entry pearls started at 500 gil, then 700 gil then 1000 gil the day before the race. over 30 peeps entered, but only 17 showed. Which i found out was a good thing cause its hard to keep track of who enters in which place. But with the linkshells its easy to spot a cheat, and with my whm friend teleporting me towards the finish lines all three races were well monitered and ended in a success.
the SOUL MONSTER LEAGUE: This is what i am currently working on. It is the first of its kind that i know of, a pro sports league in Vanadiel! www.geocities.com/soulmonsterleague check it out and start your own in your server with my support! Ill guide you and Ill even make you your own webpage. Or make your own even! I think this could be something big in the future of gaming. thank you

Ok Guys, While the $%^$%^ Maintenance was going on last night I had a chance to refine some other ideas for events. Here they are:

Scavenger Hunt
Relay Race
Quiz Show (It's like Tricky read me mind :(

I have all the rules and stuff set up, I'm just working on how best to run them through parties/linkshells to have the least amount of problems.

So hey, could we maybe decide how (or if) we are going to run the race this weekend. I need to make plans so I'd like to know ASAP if we will be holding a race (I can still run it if the others arent available, I can have some friends help out).

I don't think I'll be available to run the race or any other event this weekend. :( It's Labor Day and that means family time. If you want to run it independently you're more than welcome to, Eleusynia. I definitely don't want the events to stop if one of us can't make it.

/sigh

Family stuff, I miss family stuff :/
I guess free weekends are what come with not having much family anywhere near me :(

Oh well, I can fill my time with the FFXI family :P

Ok we will run the race as usual I guess maybe 8:00 instead of 9:00. If anyone in the group is still available to help out I'd appreciate it (Kinda hard to do it all by ones self). And I'll have some LS friends help out as well.

Off to update the Main thread ( Hope you have fun on the weekend Byaina, in case I dont talk to you before then^^ )

Changed the race for this friday september 3, 2004.

I just remembered my LS is doing a group thing on sunday night so some of them wouldn't be available and I promised I would help. Since I can't guarantee we'd be done by the race time, I dont want to chance not being there on time to help people out.

As to who's idea anything was, I have no idea. I am but a lowely minion of Byaina's, doing her moronathonic bidding whenever called upon. (j/k^^)

Of course you can be a committee member, Naeo. The more the merrier and we definitely want the wisdom of the guy who came up with it. :)

So, when's the next running of the bulls... er, morons? Back to the usual Sunday time slot after Labor Day?

Yes definitely back to sunday. It can't get any worse then last weeks on friday.

I have a completely off topic story for Demoncide and Ishido since we enjoyed all those lovely, high-IQ visitors that night.
I suppose everyone will find this funny, I know I did.

I was pt'd in Jeuno and our Leader was a DRK whose name I will not give for his own protection. We finally (after 45 minutes) find our 6th member and are all ready to go. The WHM asks if everyone has a crystal so we can go to Altepa, everyone says yes.

WHM casts Teleport-Altep

Party: WTF!!
(DRK is still in Jeuno)

WHM: OMG..Do you have the Altep Crystal??

DRK: Yes I do.

BLM (ME): .....No you don't.

DRK: Let me check.

.....
....
....
.....

DRK : OMG I HAVE A LIGHTNING CRYSTAL!! HAHA

PARTY:......

WHM: Have you ever even BEEN HERE!?!?

DRK: No, Did i have to go there to get the crystal?

I cried that night. I laughed so hard at this wonderful specimen of a man/woman/thing who obviously must have bought the account off someone. Otherwise, I say down with powerleveling because that's the only other way a complete doofus like that could have made it to 43 DRK.

Back on topic though: I vote for sunday night again. Shall we do the same race? or try something new? I have all the details (i think) worked out for the scavenger hunt, and the trivia game shouldnt be that hard to get off the ground. But its up to you guys.

**Word about this wonderful guy i mentioned above got around damn fast that night and people in jeuno later were randomly shouting OMG I HAVE A LIGHTNING CRYSTAL! lol. It was pretty funny.

I would also like to join this fun event. Have a question tho. For those people who decide to use WHM as their lvl 1 job, should this be banned cause you have the ability to pop off 1 or 2 cures at this lvl...(don't know if this was mentioned earlier or not)

BTW Eleusynia, I've had that teleport thing happen also, but it was with a friend who i was helping doing Sam Quest and she didn't have any teleports crystals (found out later) O.o (and she was 30+ at the time). Btw for those who don't know it absolutely sucks walking back to Zone in Santuary of Zi'tah (OMFG that Rock Golum is coming straigth for us!). I ended up dying walking thru Saurumogue (ever had 5-6 Skink's chasing after you?...looked like Jurassic Park). Poor thing felt some bad, there's no way I could have gotten mad at her. She's real sweet too (suffice to say she has all the crystals now). Moral: I always ask now when I go to the remote teleport location ^^.

Heh, one or two cures doesn't matter at all past the low level zones. Can't cure if you're dead. And in the low level zones at the start, you wouldn't want to stop to cast cure, or you'd lose your lead.
