At first I thought I imagined my search terms and time period. But recent searches... don't come up. For instance: Run a search in the asylum for BT (yes I spelled out Barkingturtle) and eggs in the content.

Anyone who reads forum=4 knows that poor BT doesn't know what to do with his excess eggs... but searching for that reveals nothing!

Please, let us find BT's eggs!

Search hasn't been finding anything from after a certain date for quite a while now, I thought.

Ah well. Smiley: glare

Hey wait, search is part of premium! I demand my $.03 a day back! Or at least maybe some pictures of naked wombats, or some of BTs excess eggs!

Er, nm forget the eggs, I don't know what he's done with those chickens - or the eggs, for that matter.

For a while, it wasn't finding things after August 7th (back in mid-August).

Now it's up to October 7th, at least.

So it's better, it's just not entirely fixed.

My conundrum points out flaws in the search functionality of the forums.

Whattya know? My eggs are good for something, after all!

Thanks Allakhazam!

It disturbs me when you refer to them as your eggs... I mean more than you normally disturb me.

And by disturb I mean ********* and excite me - in a fowl sort of way

Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken.

But it does make you someone I'd like to buy a drink.

I don't think I'm allowed to do this here. This is a serious forum with a serious purpose.

The indexer appears to have caught up. I'm finding posts from today using the forum search. Could you give me an example post that is not showing up?

The old back-end to the search engine has been entirely replaced. The indexer for the new engine is now fully up and running, so search for recent stuff should once again work (~ 10 minute lag time).

The technical reason is that the old system couldn't support index files larger than 2gb. That's what lead to previous issues with new posts not getting indexed.

The new system should be more scalable, so hopefully that problem is behind us.

I'm going to make a quiche, by the way.

In case anyone was still concerned with my over-abundance of eggs.
