I just got billed $30 and frankly, it's not worth it. I remember it being around $20 last time and I didn't see any increase posted anywhere.
It went up?
Near as I can tell it has been that price since at least March 2006

If you consider inflation, $30 in 2001 is more like $35 today, so it's virtually gone down~

For some reason, neither Kao's nor Rale's links are working for me...
Those links probably lead to part of the site that only lets you in if your an admin. 
Like where the smiles are located. I remember when I used to be able to access a directory full of alla smiles that didn't all work. Now it's gone forever!

I was so close to reinstating premium. Right when they added the images. They lost me when they didn't allow images in sigs.

I think it's a conspiracy.
I seem to remember it being less as well. I still use the data base so it's still useful atm.
The price for premium service has remained unchanged since we launched the program in 2001.
