Why was my link removed?Follow

Op asked for leveling help so I linked him the Jame's leveling guide on WoWPro as I would normally do and now I find that the link has been removed.

A link to wow pro is standard practice whenever anyone asks for leveling help.

Why was the link removed? Is WowPro now considered a site that we cannot link to?

WoWPro is a no-go now? That's a first. It's probably the best source of LEGAL leveling help.

I see that it was Wordaen who edited the post. First the picture abuse isn't a big deal and we need to relax and now we're removing links that aren't on the URL filter list?

Cranky today, Wordy?

Who doesn't know about WoWPro? I mean... you're a WoW admin, right?

Actually, we generally do remove the links to those kinds of sites when we run across them.

What do you mean by "those kinds of sites"?

Is it the case that we should not link to Jame's leveling guide anymore?

What "kind of sites" are we talking about? Informative, helpful sites, known and used by a number of posters on this board, including certain admins?

Judging by your signature, Wordaen, I'll be so bold as to say you don't play the game and thus don't know what you're talking about. Jame's leveling guide is probably one of the most popular leveling guides for World of Warcraft, ever! Provided we're talking about the same site (www.wow-pro.com), I have found no traces of RMT services anywhere.

So what exactly makes "those kind of sites" bad? In case you didn't know, leveling guides aren't illegal...

Im thinking its a simple misunderstanding. The wowpro guides are not payed guides and are free for everyone. They have also been a standard in the allah wow community to get new players going and help old players level alts.

They are not those guides which you pay for or are linked with gold selling etc.

If thats really the standpoint of the allah staff though i wont link it anymore but i disagree if that is the case.

Oh, I see now. No no, Jame's guide is 100% free.

It's not one of those sites.

Edit: Oh and Wordaen, please don't misinterpret the "you don't know what you're talking about" line. Looking back, it might sound a little demeaning, but that was not my intention. Just ask some of the WoW admins before you go removing innocent links next time. Smiley: tongue

I dont see a need to jump all over the guy for it IMO hes just trying to do his job and either dont know wowpro is good unlike the other 97867889908 guides that are not or the allah staff made a decision to not accept wowpro links for whatever reason.

Two things.

First, I have played WoW and I am very familiar with that site. I am actually very familiar with most of the levelling guides and what not on the internet, since I played WoW for a little over a year.

Second, if you disagree with it, you are more than welcome to PM Kaol, since it was by his suggestion, being here longer than myself, that it was removed. Or any other admin for that matter. If they feel it's appropriate and want to allow it, then I don't have an issue with it. But if I am told that we remove the links then I remove the link. It's just that simple.

And, at the bottom of the pages on that site are gold selling ads and wow cheat ads that link to things that are against the blizzard TOS, I did check it since I need to explain my actions it seems.

Are we talking about the same site? I don't see any RMT ads anywhere.

Oh, and I wasn't aware that you were following orders, Wordaen. Sorry if I "flew off the handle." Wasn't my intention.

Id hardly say Mazra was going off the handle or jumping all over him but anyway that is OT. All I want to know about is why wowpro is bad just so that I don't make the mistake of linking to any other of the "those sites" again.

Is it because Alla has its own leveling guide and you don't want us linking to competition?

I had to bring the page up in IE to see them but there are RMT ads. i have adblock on firefox so never see them normally.

They are not banner ads but google adsense ads and unfortunately site admins have little control over what adsense puts on their page beyond removing google adsense all together and losing the revenue from it which probably keeps the site alive.

Ok i see now, I also have ads blocked in FireFox.

So to clarify... if a site has RMT ads then it is against Alla rules to link to them. Amirite?

If they kill links to Jame's guide then embrace for impact in the WoW forum.

The place will drown in questions like "weres teh bestest plaece 2 lvl?"

Which sucks because there gos 99% of wow related sites that are supported by ads. And all of the ones supported by google adsense.

I started a thread in their forums and brought it to their attention maybe they can get something worked out with the admins over here and we can go back to using wowpro links here.

EDIT: thread on wowpro can be found here there are NO ads in their forums i double checked with IE before linking it.

Well, fwiw, I talked to the other admins and it was simple miscommunication on my part. As I said earlier, if the other admins are cool with the wow-pro site then I don't have a beef with it and I don't.

So, disregard the wow-pro issue, I was in error. Apologies if I wound ppl up unnecessarily.

I thouht that it was one of those "pay money for how to level" information guides. Those we remove. I only gave ti a cursory glance and saw the Google RMT ads and gold making guide and made assumptions that I shouldn't have. Sorry about that. Wordaen was just acting on my advice.
