Reporting of Images...AdmisHelpPLSFollow

#1 Aug 31 2007 at 8:20 PM Rating: Excellent
Can we not report APPROPRIATE images...I can totally understand reporting INAPPROPRIATE images. Admins maybe you can do something about it.

Best way would be disabling said picture after, let's say, 10 reports. Or make it so admins have to review said reported picture and giving it a final status being erased or not.

Also, a hide images feature would be perfect too.

I'm in agreement. What's the use of having the feature if within minutes of posting an image some dork can just remove it? I assume you folks get to see who reported images, perhaps reporting could be a premium only thing and if it's abused they can have the equivalent of a no-rate. Don't know, but as it stands right now any image that is posted disappears within moments.

I am reposting this here because it makes sense and I'm all about making good sense.

If you really really want to force a pic to be removed when someone reports it, why not replace the pic with a link instead, have the link say something like "This picture has been reported" or something. Give people fair warning, then admins can review reported images, and delete the truly offensive ones.

Also, please start repremanding people who report non offensive pics, like EVERY SINGLE PIC in this thread.

I agree with this as well.

(Though if you post with "Posting this image before someone reports it" before this gets fixed, you're asking for someone to report it in a futile attempt to be funny.)

I would say "replace the image with just a line that reads 'Reported by <person's name here>" but that'd lead to rate-camping.

Basically what I was going to say, but I'd like to add that you could just remove the [Report] thing and instead make the images themselves a link to open a PM to an admin. You'd have to report said image that way.

Trying to be impersonal with this is just going to make it a worthless addition, in my opinion.

And that would show that ******* for reporting! No seirously that's a bad idea because reporting real bad pictures might make it bad for the person reporting.

I still think an admin reviwing pictures reported might be the best idea. And let the picture stay there until an admin declares it wrong. Not the other way around.

2nd...if the image is reported it goes into a review queue...an admin then reviewd the image...if appropriate it is then reenter and the report button it then disabled for that particular image.

At the very least, reporting a picture should inform the admins of who reported it so they can ban griefers and the like. If you're reporting lolcatz and pictures of someone's car, you'd better have a good reason for it and the admins should be asking you what that reason is.

When images are reported, we do indeed look at them. If something is obviously going to offend someone it goes bye bye. If it looks fine to us, it's likely fine for everyone so we'll approve it and let it go.

In regards to picture camping and the other things you have mentioned, we are aware of the different issues and we are working on them so chill out about it for now folks, alright? We always take care of you, sometimes just takes a little longer.

That system works fine. It should just work the other way around. The way I get it is that it's gets removed until one of you guys look at it and puts it back. It should stay there until one of you guys takes it out.

I wasn't aware that a thread in the feedback forum was such an over-the-top reaction.

What it should do is turn into a link until it gets the official thumbs up/down so that people who still want to look at it can do so without having to go through the rigamarole of quoting the post with an image, then finding and substituting the image number into a canned link.

This way reported images aren't visible without an additional step, but they're still available for people who want to see what got reported.
