In the FFXi skin, you cant read the Reply to Thread, at the bottom of the page as it's in white and the bar is in silver.

Also, the posts NEED the lins back between the avi and the text of the posts. It's horrible. Terrible skin all around.

FFXI skin seems to have gotten the lines back, at least a horizontal one seperating the avatar and poster info from the post itself. Does this mean the WoW skin will get the line as well?

Two other things:

1.) When you make a short post there's a lot of empty space put in to make the post stretch down to match the left frame (the one with the avatar and info), but could you make it so the space is put after the text and before the signature instead of at the end of the signature?

Currently short posts result in looooong signature field while the actual signature text/banner is spooning with the message body.

2.) When creating or editing a post you're usually taken to the post upon clicking the Edit/Post button. However, creating or editing a post not located on the first page of a multi-page thread takes you to the top of the first page.

Can this be changed? I don't know if it matters, but I get a NoScript notification on something called QuantServe.com when it happens. Might just be an ad or something, but I figured I might as well include it.

FFXI. IE 6.0

Some distance down the page, the text in the Posted: line and in the post body starts moving to the left. Eventually it intrudes into the sidebar, overlaid on it. Rating the post fixes this.

(also text body vanishes for me too.)

My computer has a gremlin in it, the text keeps disappearing as I'm trying to read it. When I try to highlight the text, it shows up as there, then blinks back out.

I've had some really weird days involving the weather and online stuff, I think it best if I just curl up into a ball @ home and do night for a few days until it all passes over....

Bring back the spacing between the user's info and their post.

Align the rate up button on the far left and the rate down button on the far right. It looks funny centered and this would help with some complaints about accidently clicking the wrong one.

The sigs and post are hard to distinguish and make everything feel claustrophobic. Put in a real horizontal seperator instead of the ---'s.

OK, I really like the rate up/down buttons. For one thing it makes it really easy to see where I've rated already. But it's missing one thing: a "rate where it is" button.

What I liked about the old system was the ability to say "yes, this post is right where it should be." With only up and down available, that means the rate stats contain only extreme ratings rather than moderate ones. I can't rate posts as Decent anymore if they're already Decent. That's going to skew the user averages towards the extremes -- more Sages and more Defaults.

(If that was your intent, however, that's fine. It's quite possible I've misunderstood what the up and down buttons do, or their intention.)

Speaking of karma. Not only do the buttons reappear when you rate someone, but the rating disappears, too. That was on the WoW skin, I can't get the FFXI skin to load fast enough for my tastes.

I suggest freezing the rate up/down buttons right now! I was curious when I noticed a couple people on my server sporting good/excellent ratings when they have never been out of default in the past. Since my wife and I both have accounts I checked one of her posts and I was able to rate her up. Never in the past have either of us been able to rate the other. I assume this would be because we share the same IP addy.

After I noticed this I did some perusing of the forums and notice quite a few people who would have been lucky to get rated to "decent" due to the inanity of their posts suddenly showing as excellent. Probably be a good idea to get on this before everyone has an excellent rating.

While I might be tempted to create a sock, make tons of " Hi, how are you" posts, then rate them all to the sky, then take the sock and do the same for my regular account, I'd rather see this problem fixed before too many more people notice it.

I've always rated using the full range of options. Not many (used to) get an Excellent or Awful from me.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this one before (the text keeps blanking out on me Smiley: mad), but it seems that the text seems to have its alignment changed by a few pixels to the left every post- so it looks kinda like

P

P
P
P

More or less. That or people's posts in this forum just degrade in quality so much after the top on that it's reflecting on the actual page.

heh, I have those P's as slanted like /, and it's showing as a |. What j00 got against spaces?!?

Seeing other people's SSs, I get the feeling this is a coding problem happening in my computer or whatever. Running IE 7.0 on Windows XP Pro.

EDIT: Nevermind. Hitting Shift+Refresh, as said earlier, solved this. For some very odd and magical reason, but it did. Anyhow... I think it's still a strange problem. <.<

Also, everyone make sure you try shift+refresh before posting a problem. Chances are you still have some of the old code stuffs stuck in your cache.

Using the FFXI skin/format thingy.

Some users with extremely long one word names are showing past the line that separates the side bar from the post.

Also some posters who dont have a sig or display short messages have a huge post window. Dont know if its not sizing the posts correctly or not.

On the subject of karma ratings, if you're doing changes, how about insituting a minor change? Make it so that rating is disabled if the search function is used to locate a thread. While I could care less about karma, apparently some people *do*. So much so that they'll get upset about a post in one thread, search for the last X weeks of posts from the user they're upset about and rate them down.

My understanding is that the ratings are supposed to reflect the quality and informativeness of any given post in question. That's why you're limited to one rate per post. But it's pretty clear to me that many posters see it as a way to get "revenge" on someone they disagree with, especially those of us who post in the more controversial thread topics. It's pretty obvious when I post in such a thread and suddenly see posts in various "ducky and bunny" threads all get rated down that, someone didn't read each of those threads, decide they didn't like my post in that thread and rate them down on their own merits.

It somewhat defeats the purpose of limiting the ratings to one per post if users will simply search out other posts by the same user and rate them down. Additionally, it makes users like me less willing to post on other random (neutral) topics, since those rarely get rated one way or the other on their own, but become rate-fodder for those looking to get their jollies by down rating someone for a single post in a completely different thread. The rates are supposed to be for that post, right? That somewhat presumes that someone reads a thread in the normal manner and then makes a decision to rate one or more posts in that thread. I cant think of any legitimate reason someone would search out a thread and then start rating posts within it. I could maybe see a topic/subject search, but absolutely not a poster search...

Actually, to be perfectly honest, I think that the rating system should simply be disabled for the oot and asylum forums anyway. The original purpose of the rating system was (and presumably still is) because this is primarily a gaming site. It's supposed to be a measure of a posters infomation with regards to any given game and the quality of the information they post. It's relevant because if someone asks for some information and they get a response from someone with a high rating, they've got a good chance of that information being correct. In the oot and asylum forums, it becomes more of a popularity contest instead and really has no meaning at all.

Please move my little karma revenge arrows farther apart from each other. There is nothing more frustrating than searching for gbaji's posts and then accidentally rating him up instead of down because the arrows are too damn close together.

You can't search solely by user name, unless you're searching for yourself. This is specifically to avoid the scenario you describe.

The best you could try to do would be to search for a name and some common search strings you hope will return the majority of their posts.

I thought you didn't care about karma Smiley: wink2

Back to format, if Illia could make the News stylesheet work/look like the EQ one does now (changing the colors, etc of course) it would be perfect. I'm back to using the EQ stylesheet but really prefer the grays over the much brighter tan color.

The rate buttons in Forum=29 just plain don't work.

I try to rate someone, then click Refresh, or go browse another topic, and come back, their original score is there, and the rate buttons are back again. I try rating them again, repeat, rinse, repeat.

(re) included page information in the post redirection. You should get back to the correct page now when you reply.

EDIT: I read further up the thread, and saw other people mentioning it too (disappearing text, FFXI skin) ... its just driving me NUTS lol.

please fix the display ... text in posts are randomly disappearing, being colored the same as the background -- I have to highlight the the message body to see it. I'll literally be reading something, and 2 seconds later the text will change color to match the background.

Also, quotes are misaligned. I'm using IE 6 here, but at home it does the same thing on IE 7.

Are you seeing the disppearing text in IE6 only or 7 too?

I don't understand what you mean by "quotes are misaligned".
