as soon as the admins implemented the filter to catch the goldseller sites my first thought was "If they're smart they'll just use cannotlinkto".
Took em long enough.
I still vote for a 1$ registration fee so everyones account is tied to a credit card. Then just add a clause the TOS saying any posting advertising virtual currency sale is subject to a 500$ removal fee.
Easiest solution is to badname cannotlinkto, not useful on this forum, and can hide anything from goldselling sites, to keylogging scripts, to bestiality ****...
the problem is cannotlinkto isn't the only site that provides that type of service. They could easily use sites like clickbank to do the same thing.
If it proves financially beneficial they could even continue to just buy new domain names and just use them to redirect or they could just start using IPs in the links.
The solution used here is just a way to inconvenience the spammer, it doesn't solve the problem at its source.
think about a 1 time fee at registration, hell doesn't even need to be a dollar, could be a penny. Just enough to get a verified name/address on file So that way a penalty can be used on the account(CC) owner.
I mean clearly the current methods aren't working. We still see goldseller sales pitches at least a few times a week. And the fact that they continue to target this site means they are still getting business from its users.
