Since Burning crusade for WoW went live, we have basically tripled our total site views, partially cancelling out the benefit of the new servers we just put in place. More have been ordered. Even with that though, overall the site has been running fairly fast from my end of late. There have been slow days, and every once in a while a cluster will have issues (which is what triggers those Processing directive messages) but things have been much better overall in the past month than they were for the prior 6 in terms of speed, availability, access response time and lack of errors.
Sundays do remain a problem sometimes since there are usually not very many programmers around to kick the site if it has issues. More are being sought to be hired as you read this. And trust me on this, if the site is running slow, the site data enterers and forum moderator types are the absolute first people to let the programmers know when there is a problem. We have the advantage (much to their dismay) of being able to bug them about it directly when things get slow.
For instance, right now the site is very fast, error free, and responding correctly for me, If you are currently having issues, it may not be a problem with the site but possibly your internet service. Because aside from a hiccup every now and again things are running better than they have in months.
Regarding the vanguard thing, There isn’t much one can do when the developer of a game pulls all your beta accounts and tells you to **** off because they don’t like your indirect corporate associations.
