I'm cross-posting this from the "Creek M Clomps, Kirin's Osode and other STR gear" thread in the Monk forum. This is important to address. Someone with authority over this site needs to draw the line between editing because a particular moderator doesn't agree with such content, and editing because the forum rules forbid such content.

Quote:
I've posted unrelated junk in about 100 other threads and they are yet to be edited, so this edit could not be a matter of relevance. I recall a sell-out episode several months back that greatly criticised Allakhazam and his associates (most of which was not edited and, I think you'll agree, much harsher in word choice and presentation), so this edit could not be a matter of censorship.

Explain what's going on here in regards to criticism. We can talk about games, goverments, and Xylia's fur fandom, but when it comes to the moderators of Allakhazam, there's a whole new standard of what can and cannot be said. Where is this in the posting rules, where is it even implied, and how long has it been in effect? Furthermore, how long has this "three strikes" rule been in effect? Does it apply to this thread or all threads? How often do the rules change just long enough to apply some arbitrary moderation before jumping back to the usual order of things? Explain to me how this isn't inconsistent rule enforcement and it just happens to be a bad day for a member but a good day for a mod with a sour attitude.

I don't care how trivial or stupid anyone thinks this is! I just feel like going all internet confrontational until you edit this just because you have the ability to edit it, because I know DREAD LORD KAOLIAN is waiting patiently to silence those who hurt his feelings online!

If there is any question to which edited post this quote refers, though I'm quite certain you know which I'm talking about, I can repost it here when asked.

linking to the actual post helps sometimes too...saves the admin the time of going through everything (they tend to have more important things to do like updating the website and keeping the servers going)

It'd be good if you actually posted what was actually said pre-edit.

Also, don't take everything too literly; there is no "3 strikes" rule that's set in stone :p

If you've said something that warranted an admin removing it, why on EARTH would you repost it?

And then challenge that person as to why they did it?

I tend to trust Kao's judgement on what is deemed inappropriate and uncalled for. If we feel it hurts our community we have the right to delete it. As for it being done now rather than during any one of your previous posts, that's probably because someone finally reported you. I can guarantee you that Kao doesn't visit the monk forum just for fun.

I hear he secretly has an affinity for m0nk items.
#8Mazra, Posted: Feb 07 2007 at 10:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's not like Kao has a tendency to remove sensitive material about himself. Even if it hurts the community as a whole. Like, say, nuking a helpful thread that pointed out a tiny reversible mistake he did, even if the thread also contained the solution to a much debated problem.

Maz I enjoy most of your post but seriously dude....Get Over It!!! Smiley: disappointed

Whether you think it was right or wrong. It's like the Raffiki says, "It does not matter, it's in the past".

What, I only mentioned it twice, first time being a month ago or so when the actual nuking occured. And it's on topic, so why not?

And Raffiki was a ******* moron if he said that. The future, present and past are all tied together by our actions and the consequences they have on our surroundings. Forgetting about your past is the same as ignoring your future. You can't have one without the other. And without a future, what reason is there to even exist?

I'm sure just once, Kaolian would like to open up one of these threads and have it say:

Attn: Kaolian

"you have beautiful eyes"
"You are a special snowflake"
"Great job moderating"
"I enrolled you in the cheese of the month club."

You know, not about some random edit of some monk thread.

As clever and philosophical as this sounds, if you stop and think about it you'll realise that it is very easy, and rather common, to do one of those things without doing the other. While your personal philosphy may idealize the junction of the two, the fact remains that they are not synonyms.

You're also misinterpreting the original sentiment by conflating "forgetting" with "not mattering."

LMAO at Eld's avatard.

Is there like an HR file somewhere in Allakazam's office with Kao's work performance record in it?

Could be a fun read.... ^.^

Wha'?

Edit: I used 'ignore' because you cannot forget something that has not yet happened. If it makes you feel better, I can always change 'forget' to 'ignore' so that we don't have to worry about synonyms and whatnot.

Okay, I can see that this isn't going anywhere until I present exactly what was edited. Before I do so, here is something remarkably similar to the offending post that I added to a thread over half a year ago:

From http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10&mid=1154456502250751012#1154519423255687746

Quote:
Forum raids are stupid, you all band together to quell each others' insecurities about the need to live a distinct and meaningful life. Every one of you is uncreative and untalented in the ways of original and appreciable invasions, instead you supplement it with excessively redundant and exclusive bits of non-sense to alienate the sensible public. This community is not just a resort for the vagrants of net society, but a trap for the easily tempted that would convince them to put away any respectable portion of intelligent thought in favor of a hive mind founded on derangement. You are a shame to both the internet and the human race as a whole, and if it were within my power to do away with each and every one of you I would not hesitate for one moment.

And here is the Grand Kaolian Offender MkII: Deluxe Edition, from the Monk forum, 3 days ago:

They are different by two words, neither of which are offensive, and yet one is worthy of karma nuke and editing.

That would be so cool.

I'd edit that to read 'IF I SAY 'I HATE POTS' CAN PIKKO EDIT ME?'

w/o the 'edited by' text.

I got several PM's saying "hey, check this thread out this person is really bashing on the admins, please take care of it." So I did. From what I recall, the post had several shall we say, less than appropriate embelleshments.

I gave you a warning edit. It should have ended there. If you felt it was in error, you should have taken it to PMs. But what did you do? you posted somethign even worse. I gave you a second warning. Probably because i'm an idiot. So you post again, then crosspost it here.

Knock it off.
