Okay, I hate to say this, I really do (as I do so love the randomosity of this thread) but I think its time for our bad players thread to be locked.
Now, before my fellow Garudans start throwing random objects at me and shouting profanities, I'll list my reasoning:
1. Admin nightmare. We've heard it a billion times. There's no lighthearted ranting. Someone somewhere takes offense. That person PMs an admin. That admin gets headaches.
2. Better served by having a thread that isn't built on the premise of outing "bad players". Hell, might do better with a more user-friendly title like "Official Garuda Rant Thread" and some simple rule like no posting names. (Because the BPT *does* catch all the would-be-new-threads on our board, and limits the number of new ******** threads).
3. In-thread necroposting. OP: Aug 19 2004. Names/players from the first few pages of the thread end up pages and pages deep from newcomers/everyone/sane people not reading the entire thread. Old beef gets dredged up from page A after it was already settled on page B because player Q didn't read page B, they just read page A, and now they're posting years old beef on page Z, and the mudslide renews itself.
4. Lighthearted nonsense only really makes up 25% of the thread. And then, it's really only the most recent 25%, and despite giant blinking neon sign reading "Warning: thread derailed ahead", it still erupts into random flaming bits of battle due to previous 75% of thread.
5. You admins don't really want us to hit 99 pages, do you? I mean, at first I personally expected lots of one line posts, and we got a few, but nowhere near the volume I was expecting. However, it does still dangle there like some sort of forbidden candy, and I'm not a huge fan of threadwaste.
6. It really is turning people bitter. Hell, sometimes it makes me bitter for about half an hour. Not in the sense of anger at any particular post/poster, but more of a generalized bitterness that's probably left over from our whole Anna/Clefairy phase.
7. Lack of understanding between long-time BPT posters and newcomers over the viewpoint taken of the thread. Long time posters view it as a running joke, newcomers see/post/spew fire and brimstone and generally get all riled up, cuss a lot, make comments on sexuality, parentage, and lifestyle choices (all generally lacking proper grammar, spelling, and/or punctuation) and the boredom-that-is churns out an extra two pages of negativity between the long-time posters and the newcomers.
8. World peace.
9. An end to hunger and disease.
10. Because if you love something, you let it go.
There. 10 reasons.
