Allakhazam Support for Vanguard ? (was forum=1)Follow

#1 Jan 02 2007 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent
Has there been any indication from Allakhazam that they will add a section for Vandguard, as Caster's Realm did ?

I sure hope they do, as Allakhazam provides a lot more content than CR...

There is a forum section, but at this time it is my understanding that we will be provideing only limited coverage for vanguard saga of heroes.

you wouldn't be saying that if you knew how bad the product is going to be for AT LEAST the first 6-12 months of release or open beta 6 as it should be known.

Well, if it is bad for the first 6 months maybe that will weed out all the 13 year olds that were expecting another WoW, and leave the game to more mature players who appreciate the potential of this game.

I'm sorry to hear that Allakhazam won't be covering it as well as they do other games... /sigh

From what I understand we will cover it, just not as soon as the public wants it. When more details are available, we will of course let you know.

You mean there was a forum for it. There is no link for it in the forum section and the link passed around in various threads leads to a forum the Vanguard forum drops you at a forum page waiting to be set up.

It is rather sad that you have area set up for EQOA but not for Vanguard. Dose anyone even play EQOA.

What is with the lack of intrest in Vanguard on the part of Zam.com

It appears as though they have at least reserved space for vanguard.allakhazam.com

They put in a forum like 2 years ago. After numerous delays and lack of activity it apparently got nixed. According to some reviews I've read in the meantime, that's not necessarily a bad thing. As it is now, from the sounds of it, the game needs a lot of work. I can't blame the Alla personnel for not jumping on the release. Perhaps if it gets the development it apparently needs, then they'll open a section for it.

I for one am hopeful, on both accounts. But I don't think I'll bother dissappointing myself for now, I'll wait till some of the logistics of the game get worked out and for the point where I don't have to drop 4K+ on a computer to run it.

I have been playing the open beta -- and boy does it ever need a lot of work.
When you are in combat lots of time the NPC's turn their back on you, the automaps don't work or are non-existant, broken quests, etc. It is all too reminiscent of EQ1 at the beginning. Too much of Mr. Brad McWastemytime in the game. And you do waste a lot of time in this game just trying to find an NPC to get your quest reward, or trying to find a vendor etc.

The game is not balanced (whatever that means) - some level 1 mobs kill you in 1 blow and in othere areas you can walk all over them. The larger towns have no automaps so you wander around for hours looking for something. You can ask the guards, but if it is not on their list you are SOL.

The game is not optimized yet and still has debugging code in it and consequently it is very jerky and slow at times.

WoW, whether you like it or not, set certain standards for MMO's -- like Automaps, quest givers marked on the automap, prominent buildings marked or at least ask about them -- None of this really exists in Vanguard and I think that will hurt it. A lot of people no longer want to wander around looking for an NPC or Vendor for 1 hour -- something Brad has always felt was a symbol of game difficulty. Brad has always equated time with difficulty and that seems to be true in this game too.

I expect on opening day, the servers will crash, they will be patching like crazy for the first month. I would give the game a month before attemptint to play it. It really is not ready for release on January 30th and there is no way they can finish all that needs fixing by then. After release look for a patch a day.

This may have something to do with it:

What about fansites associated with the secondary market (Gold Sellers)?

-Sigil is strong about its stance towards the secondary market. No site will ever be listed or supported by Sigil that has Secondary Market ads or is owned by the secondary market (Zam/Ogaming Networks). If a fansite is found to be supported by the Secondary Market in any way it will immediately be removed from our program.

I suppose that doesn't stop Alla from hosting Vanguard forums and content, but it makes things more difficult. Hopefully you're speaking with some people there about your position on RMT to try to clear things up. Based on this comment they seem pretty inflexible, especially considering they specifically mention you.

Thats a good point actually.

Maybe it's best if Vanguard is kept away from this site.

I for one love the Allah site, but wont come here for my Vanguard content as i feel I should be loyal to sites that give it the attention it deserves from the start.

I will still use it for my WoW content, if I bother logging into WoW again!

And as for LOTR....well, I can probably still just use the WoW content for that anyway....Meh!!!
