Could you put a "Back" or "Thread Index" link somewhere on the page where you write and edit comments/posts?

I know my browser has a "Back" button, but from a user-friendly point of view, that's not very user-friendly. Smiley: tongue

Anyways, just a suggestion.

Edit: Changed title to clarify.

lolguilt

I hardly use the back button on any browser, generally I've got my fingers on Alt and the Left arrow key, and I use that 99.9% of the time. Get with the times Mazra, all the cool kids use shortcut keys. Smiley: rolleyes

Why use shortcut keys when my mouse's 6th button is programmed to do just that?

You're trying to teach me new tricks. Cute. Smiley: tongue

Yeah, my microsoft mouse on my PC has Forward/Back thumb and pinky buttons, but the 12.99$ retractable cord mouse I bought for my laptop dosn't.

I miss my old trackball, it had 11 programmable buttons + scroll wheel. A geeks dream. Too bad the ball finally lost it's finish, and wouldn't roll smoothly no matter how much I cleaned it. Smiley: frown

On an incredably annoying and unrelated note, anyone see the new microsoft high end mouse thats due out in february?

They did away with the forward button and moved it to the other side in the stupidest place ever. then the ergo replacement has been torqued to the side even more, which I personally find highly anoying.

The intellimouse explorer V2 was the best mouse shape ever. they should go back to that with just the new technology added.

Nice design on the first one, Kao, but impractical as hell, yeah.

I'm using the Logitech MX Laser mouse and keyboard.

If it wasn't for the ****** software causing major bugs, it would've been worth the money and a lot more. Mainly because of the Bluetooth hub in the keyboard which acts as a hub for every other Bluetooth machinery you've got. Just connect and use.

That is, if the software worked...

Just to reply to this.

I'm not a fan of "Back" links. Like you pointed out: your browser has a back button, your mouse might even have a back button. Your keyboard certainly knows how to tell your browser to back up. You can install Gesture based plugins to tell your browser to back up, and I think I've seen speech control software which includes the ability to go backwards. Especially on the page where you write and edit posts you have the ability to hit C+LtArrow or M+LtArrow or whatever it is in your browser, since your hands are already on the keyboard.

Now, I do agree that we could make the page where you write and edit posts easier to review the post(s) that you're replying to, but that's a separate issue and probably doesn't involve back buttons.

I do appreciate your suggestion however.

I realize it would be kind of unnecessary bling for the advanced internet user, but for the newbie it's a lifesaver.

My Art & Design teacher always told us that when you made a website, you had to make sure even the dumbest of dumb could figure it out. If a person browsing the page runs into too much trouble, he'll just close the window and most likely never return because it was too complicated.

Of course, this rule only applies to websites that need to draw in customers. You probably don't need more posters at the moment.

Anyways, it was just a suggestion. Smiley: smile

Thanks for replying.
