The only potential issue is that it'll show people's names up on top even if they can't actually access the journal (locked to self, or password locked). I can't really fix that too easily, plus I don't really see a reason to go through the trouble.

Could you add in Recent Visitors to the WoW Class Forums? They get a decent bit of traffic, but the text on top (class summary, basicially) replaces the spot where the Recent Visitors area normally goes.
Hits have always been there, just for everyone with a user ID more than 10,000 or so they were broken, since it was trying to add 1 to NULL every time someone went to a journal, and in SQL, NULL + 1 = NULL
