I heard all the Alla admins were going to be replaced with cheap foreign labor.

No, as the RMT side of the business is financially self-supporting.

Whether or not supporting RMT ends up financing Alla is another matter, and a question I'd like to have answered (i.e., if IGE were to collapse completely, would Alla be screwed?).

Perhaps I should change it to "Am I supporting RMT in any way by using this site?" then. It seems odd to me that Affinity Media would buy out Allakhazam just for the fun of it. Call me paranoid, but in big business there's always a hidden agenda.

They're an investor. It's how they make money. And it's what I hope to be doing very soon (well I'm more into start up companies).

They buy out Alla and provide captial for expansion, and then skim profits. There are many reasons why it behooves Alla to do this. For one it means security, because if the site fails and becomes unprofitable there is another backer to take the hit, somewhat like a limited liability partner. It also means he has more captial dollar with which to work. Want to do a major expansion and upgrade all the servers? It will cost money, which an investor supplies.

I'm not as well educated on business as I'd like to be, but I do have a general idea of the relationship Alla has with the parent company, and it is more common than you think.

If RMT and Alla were really mixing money, why would they stop there? Why wouldn't they place Ads on Alla for rmt?

Because the admins still remove RMT content on the site? That being said, people have complained about IGE banners lately. They get removed, yes, but they were still there.

And they are 'mixing money' as you put it. You said it yourself that Affinity Media skims the profit, meaning money from both Allakhazam and IGE go to Affinity Media and Affinity Media then sends it back when needed. Unless Allakhazam has a small box labeled "Our money, hands off!" which I seriously doubt.

Also, it's now 5 days since I asked for a reply on whether or not being a member here was supporting RMT. Should I take that as a "yes" or a "GFY"?

Being a member here supports the admins. Not RMT. There are no RMT banner ads on the site, and every time they do sneak in (which is incidentally almost always via random Google banner ads, which are hard to explicitly block since they seem to sneak in from every provider), We remove them immidiatly. No questions asked. If someone posts an RMT ad in the forum, I ban them. No appeal. Allakhazam himself has full control over layout and content decisions for the sites here. We are expanding.

We have added more new servers to handle LOTRO load, and still not one single RMT Ad has been deliberatly included on the site. The what, 2 in the last 4 months that did sneak through were removed within a few hours of being brought to our attention.

We are the ONLY large MMO gaming site that can make that claim. Many of our competetors who were rather vocal in their opposition to the changes on the site here run a huge number of RMT banner ads themselves, yet people rationalize that away somehow. It's getting old.

But you have to understand the scepticism. You're being directly funded by a company run by the guy who created IGE, the leading RMT company in the world.

Not even the JFK murder has conspiracy theories like this one.
