It's nice to think back to the Golden Age that was UBB. (Not on this particular site, as I found it after starting FFXI, but just UBB in general.)
Back in the days when there was no such thing as Karma, signatures were ALWAYS longer (or larger) than the post response itself, Private Messages were a new "big deal" thing, and a high post count was a symbol of authority (wait a minute...). Oh, and don't forget that neat new thing called "Broadband" and downloading at a rate of more than 4.5kb/s.
I've got two versions of UBB on my computer still... 5.45C and a modified version of it to include all those neat "new" features (avatars, private messages, recent visitors... you know, all those things that are impossible to code :P).
As much as you see people having problems with double- and triple-posting due to server lag, and people talking about it... I can only imagine what a forum system the size of this one would do to the servers with the older UBB database engine. o.o (The one that used to update the entire thread every time a new post was made, rather than just appending to the thread.)
EDIT: Sorry, not meaning to go OoT in the Feedback Forum, but your profile brought back a lot of memories of the good old days.
