Yes, you are.

Yet, you are still premium.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I had no idea I was a premium member, but it would explain the flashy image in my signature, wouldn't it?

Never claimed that I was against the merge. Just said that I shook my head at those who tried to convince us that they weren't governed by IGE.

The company that owns big tobacco owns us. but we're not big tobacco ourselves. There is a thread for this in the zam Q and A. Locking this before it becomes a flamewar.
Is that a "Yes" for RPG Holdings? Is there a reason why no one will just give the name, straight up?

Because some of us were told not to, and to let the execs handle things.

I can appreciate that your hands are tied. And, honestly, it's not even a huge deal to me. The forums are largely as they were a year ago and that's 99.995% of my Allakhazam.com interaction.

But everyone knows that Allakhazam and IGE are in the same family at this point so it's not as if the revelation of who owns what should shock anyone who wasn't appropriately shocked a year ago. So why all the shadow cartel, cloak & dagger ********* I know you can't answer but I'm still asking.

Ideally we should start a new updated one that doesn't have 1000+ posts and just link to this one for reading purposes, but dunno what anyone else thinks.

Someone up the thread was complaining about Zam.com not being active yet. So I looked at it (I hadn't really tried using it yet) and, at the bottom, is says:
Zam.com wrote:

Affinity Media, eh? A Google for Affinity Media results in Affinity Media which looks like just a place-holder site. However, if you use the Google cache, you get to the real site.

Affinity Media says that it owns Allakhazam.com, PlayerAuctions, IGE, Thottbott, etc. It also states that the "Resources" and "eCommerce" divisions are independent and fully autonomous. So, not that I doubted, but the company line from Up On High is the same as from Alla.

The "About Us" section has a list of investment partners. I Googled them and they were uniformly unexciting investment companies that put money into start-ups and long term investments. Some American, some Asian from the looks of it. However, the Affinity Media management page says who the immediate players are. Most notably...
Affinity Media wrote:
BROCK PIERCE
Chairman & CEO

Brock Pierce, an entrepreneur noted for his pioneering work at the nexus of entertainment and interactive media, serves as Chairman and CEO of Affinity Media, Inc. Pierce founded Affinity Media in 2001 as Internet Gaming Entertainment (IGE), the world’s largest provider of virtual asset trading services.
In short, Alla's isn't owned by the same guys who also happen to own IGE, it is effectively controlled by the guy who created IGE with the financing of a bunch of boring investment companies and whatever money Brock & Co. put into the venture. I know much of this isn't really news but it's more than anyone here was copping to previously.

Edit: It seems that since my posting Affinity took down the linked pages. You can see screenshots of them

I guess gold farming isn't as profitable as the sheer bulk of Asians and Eastern Europeans chained to their computers would have you believe...

It would seem that, very recently, the following took place.

1. Affinity Media sold legendary money pit, IGE. To whom? I have reason to believe that it might have been sold back to Jonathan Yantis - 3 years after IGE acquired Yantis' company.

2. Affinity Media continues to own Allakhazam. Brock Pierce, aka Rosemary's Baby, still owns Affinity Media and Allakhazam.

3. As such, Affinity Media/Brock Pierce is leaving the slave trade/gold exchange market in it's current capacity.

4. And our old friend Yantis will continue to be the scum of the earth, only with a bigger name.
I have no idea if this is accurate or not but I guess it'd fit in with Alla's promise of "knock your tinfoil hats off" news from a week or two back. Affinity Media's Google caches are all gone and the site now simply says:
