I don't like Marlboros, but I still buy oreos. I would never buy a Ford, but would definitely buy a Jaguar. Not big on Taco Bell, but like KFC. Many products you use are owned by people who own other products you may not like. It's the way of the world. As long as the companies are run separately, most people are fine with that. If your oreo cookie wrapper had a marlboro ad on it, maybe that would be a problem. It is important to keep in mind that we are a completely separate company within a large holding company that just happens to own other companies as well.

I realize some people are not going to be happy with this, but the fact is that we are now able to do things we just were never able to do before. This gives us the financial backing and stability to really do a great deal for everyone. Before the financial backing for the site was just me. Now it is a well financed corporation. I want our network to always be the first to have new game information. I want to be the destination of choice for anything having to do with any game we cover. There have been many cool things we have discussed doing over the years that we have just not had the ability to do without stretching ourselves too thin. Now we can do all that and more. I have loads of exciting new plans for making your experience even better than before. By adding these new sites to our network, we are gaining resources and flexibility that we have never had before.

We are purchasing eight new servers to run the site. Expect the speed issues to go away. We are also working on a way for people to personalize their view of the site and add blogging and other individual features. Our programmers will be able to put significantly more time into the site too, so there can be more searches and more features for every game. The benefits of this far outweigh the negatives. Given all of that, frankly this was a no brainer. The plan is to make Allakhazam.com and The Zam.com Network the ultimate online destination for all the latest information about your game.

I have never posted on these forums before, but i am a long time user of Alla's, since back in the EQ days. I find this pretty bad actually.. yes i buy oreos, but dont like marboros, but those who choose to buy marlboros dont cause the price of my oreos to go up 500%. I am pretty sure this will cause you to loose alot of your premium members, i know mine will be canceled

Who knew that one is exclusionary of the other?

Am I allowed to be worried only about genocides but not environmental disasters? Or does that just makes me a whiney moron as well? What if I'm worried about genocides and the environment but not Asian bird flu? Can I be worried about groundwater mercury poisoning if I failed to attend the last PTA meeting to discuss the district curriculum? And how many hours per week must I spend actively railing against deep, weighty issues before I'm allowed to mention to someone that I'm pissed that the store stopped carrying those ice cream sandwiches I like? Should they call me on it, I'd like to be able to present a timecard proving that I spent 40 hours that week worrying about tensions between China and Taiwan.

I really, really need to know the answers to this because I'd hate to one day have my righteous anger over child labor in Asian sweatshops be invalidated by my failing to think about Amazon deforestation for the Peruvian natural gasline project that day.

Who knew that being upset over something was so much work!?

Yay! I cancelled the credit card I used to get premium a few months ago. I don't have to worry about seedy companies getting my financial info! /dance

(And in case you're wondering, I'm moving this month, so they won't even have my home address anymore! Complete anonymity = kickass)

As this will be my final post and it will be buried by everyone else's posts... Sorry to go, but I really think this site is on the slow decline into oblivion. I always thought the keyword for this site was Online Community and from the looks of it, the community part is being removed. The members of the community are not cryptic in any way about their standpoint on the RMT issue. Argue with people all you want (I can't expect you will need to argue very long) but the fact remains that not a small percentage of your member base is on the way out the door. They've made their decision on the matter. Not everyone can make the right choices in the business world, and it looks like you're stuck with yours. Goodbye.

Wow I never thought I would see the day...

Anyways I'm gonna stick around to see if what Alla says is true or not. I'm doing this only because as many have said before me Alla has proven himself time and again to us and I'm sure that he might be able to do it again.

In the meantime I won't be taking that premium upgrade I've been thinking about, but I will give Alla a word of caution.

I've never posted here before but used the site a lot and ALMOST got a premium accout. Glad I didn't. Oh, and like 3 mins ago already got an ad for powerleveling/goldselling. GJ.

What are you afraid of...Getting pop-ups and getting written mail about buying gil? ROFL! Just close the window and stop whining. Gilbuyers are the ones you should be complaining about. At the end of the day they are the backbone of the industry.

What concerns me is that new players will see the RMT ads on alla(what was a reputable site) and get the idea that gilbuying is a perfectly okay thing to do.

As previously repeatedly stated in the feedback forum, if you see a gil/gold/plat selling ad in the banner rotation, post here in forum 3 in a new thread with the "ad served by" information and the image link (Right click: properties) and it will be removed. Our advertisers do slip them in occaisionally and we will remove them immidiatly when they show up, however since all of us admin types have premium and don't see the ads, we rely on you users to let us know when you see one. That advertising policy has not changed. We will also remove offensive ads, ads containing trojans, viruses, spyware etc, broken ads with slow loading flash animations, etc. Thank you. Please PM me if you have any questions on that specifically or on how to find that information on the page. Thank you.

Please, oh please, post a link to anything on any of these topics where you have devoted this much effort. Gold selling is not some moral wrong. It's just not. Is it annoying? yes. Does it violate terms of service of most games? yes. It's not even in the ballpark of anything you listed. If anything, it's a testimate to free markets and as a resulting currency exchange.

If anything, blame the game companies. They can solve the problem by regulating the economies better. They can stop direct transfer of money. Only allow tranfer of money for items; require AH or COD mail, place caps on trival items, etc. It's not hard to either come up with a scheme or implement one programatically. But go ahead and continue being holier-than-thou. It's actually entertaining to watch.

Can't help but follow the news on this and watch this thread. What IGE (using this name to make it simple) is doing I strongly oppose and have for quite awhile now.

If you do not believe that they are destroying aspects of these games, I can not explain that to you ... you have to see and experience it to really know.

IGE should make their OWN mmo in the "exchange" style (lord knows they have the money) and stop trying to force the MMO community to change. I don't hate IGE because they sell virtual items ... I hate IGE because they disregard the EULAs of these games, like the same rules that apply to the rest of us they believe they do not have to follow. Why don't they go to games where a secondary market is encouraged and stop leeching off of the ones that don't.

I don't care if IGE changed their names one thousand times and bought out hundreds of popular MMO sites the fact that our rules do not apply to them make me despise what they represent.

Anyways, the news is spreading Guildportal has dropped their support for this site, and a news snip from Ten Ton Hammer denounce whats happening here.

And by *you* I mean the entirety of the moral high horse crowd. Not, Jophiel, specifically, because it is quite possible that there are some that devote their attention everywhere.

(BTW, Jophiel, there are ways of communicating differing opinions without playing some morality card. That is what I object to. Not the opinions themselves.)

Poke around on Forum=4. I'm sure you'll find something.

People decide their own code of morals and ethics for themselves. They don't need you to tell them what's worthy enough for them to fret over.

As I've said before, it seems to me that the "You're all crying so hard" crowd is the one who needs perspective. If you think some scattered posts on an internet forum are indicative of deeply rooted pathos, I shudder to think how shocked you'd be if someone actually took the energy to drive to a store and complain about something in person.

Yeah sure, in the grand scheme of things, this is a minor event. But, well, clattering out some posts on a gaming forum or turning off your auto-billing is a pretty minor response as well. Would you have really been impressed if this is how much effort anyone put into preventing genocides?

Yes. I bet only about 50% of the moral high ground crowd have any idea what's going on in Dafur.

Yeah, and I bet 50% of those who claim they DO know what is going in in Dafur only know because it was featured on tonight's ER.

I'm not upset. I'm more interested. I also try to defend any side that's in the minority because I think all sides need a voice. And there are only extremely rare occasions when things are really black and white and I try my best to see both sides of every story. This is even more true if I believe in the premise, but despise the argument.

I also don't claim to be some bastion of moral superiority (not that you have either). I am interested in this subject purely for entertainment value and for the fact that this is a hobby of mine.

Get this back on topic or else close it this is getting nowhere.
I personnaly stands for the moneyselling/buying sites but simply for the reason that if i played a game for a long time and can get money back for it i will do it.
And if other people decide to buy gold/gil then it is their decision.

first of all.. lawl.... rating everyone down that supports alla is fairly lame.

second.... all i can read is hypocrisy. any of you who are spewing this stuff in this thread you need to realize if you play everquest or ANY game that SONY makes, you are affliating yourself with a PLAT/ACCOUNT/ITEM seller. As SOE does it for everquest

http://stationexchange.station.sony.com/

there is their link as proof so you cant whine and say I am lying.

to the person who canceled his cc. you are actually commiting fraud. This site HAS provoded above AND beyond what you were tld you get for a premium account. as such if they wanted they can take you to court to offset any charges you may have caused. It is their legal right. they in no way were in breech of any contract and as they have you address it would be mighty hard for you to hide even if you are 'moving'

to all that have said.

'cool grats'

or

'I have reservatins but i will continue to support untill such and such time then review'

you are the people that make alla worth coming to.

to all with the avys and sigs.....

grow up, you are not children and this is NOT highschool. the way you are taing this shws how immature you really are with your lame unintelligent avatars and your lame OMGZORZ YOU LIAR sigs
