For WoW players...

http://www.wowhead.com/ will supposedly be an alternative to this website when it is released.

You won't need WoW Reader for profiles when http://www.magelo.com releases it's profile system for other games.

I could go on but the point is, I put my money where my mouth is - I do not say I believe something is wrong but then go buy the product just because it saves a few pennies or it tastes nice.
And that's what everyone needs to do - money talks....
you believe something is wrong - don't buy it.

It's impossible to be a "perfect" consumer. There are always products you use that are unethically produced. The one big one that springs to mind is Petrol, from plastics to energy.

Use me by Bill Withers wrote:

My friends feel it's their appointed duty
They keep trying to tell me all you want to do is use me
But my answer yeah to all that use me stuff
Is I wanna spread the news that if it feels this good getting used
Oh you just keep on using me until you use me up
Until you use me up

My brother sit me right down and he talked to me
He told me that I ought not to let you just walk on me
And I'm sure he meant well yeah but when our talk was through
I said brother if you only knew you'd wish that you were in my shoes
You just keep on using me until you use me up
Until you use me up

Oh sometimes yeah it's true you really do abuse me
You get in a crowd of high class people and then you act real rude to me
But oh baby baby baby baby when you love me I can't get enough
I and I wanna spread the news that if it feels this good getting used
Oh you just keep on using me until you use me up
Until you use me up

Talking about you using me but it all depends on what you do
It ain't too bad the way you're using me
Cause I sure am using you to do the things you do
Ah ha to do the things you do

seemed fitting

Sheesh people. What part of "we hired the best law firm in the country" makes you assume that Alla's missing some really obvious small print that's going to allow IGE to suddenly take over?

When did wild speculation by those who know *nothing* of the business deal involved trump the statements of those who know everything about it? In the real world, people make real decisions about their businesses. There's nothing wrong or evil about that. Maybe some of you, who've trusted Alla to not give in to game sellers for 6 years should maybe trust him not to do it now.

At least give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I really don't understand all the people vowing to leave because there *might* be sales adds on the site, or IGE *might* find a way to control this site. Um... How about waiting to see what actually happens instead of spinning wild fantasies and working yourselves into a lather about what might be?

Just seems silly is all.

We are now owned by a company that owns a bunch of stuff, including IGE. They bought both of us (and several other sites as well) and then split us into separate divisions so that there is no interaction between them. You know my stand on gold selling. Before agreeing to anything like this, I wanted to make sure that there would be no interaction between those divisions and that I would have complete control over the new network, including the sites that used to be part of ogaming. So this means that the Ogaming sites and Thottbot have been split off of IGE and into our network and no longer have any connection with them.

This is the politically correct way of saying the following

" We were bought out by the company that runs IGE, which means we are now contributing to the disgusting practice that IGE and the parent company supports..."

Nice try admin, but your not fooling anyone here. You are now doig business with IGE...plain and simple.

The great thing is that someone else will now step up and make a new Alla, what it was before it was sold to IGE. We will just all go there.

Best law firm in the country? I think what Alla actually said was "largest law firm in Philadelphia." Smiley: wink2

This is only marginally correct.
www.warcry.com is owned by Themis Group. At one point, IGE hired Themis Group (an MMO consulting company). When fan backlash went nuts, though, Themis Group quickly removed any sign that the deal had ever occurred.

Source: http://wow.azzor.com/445/truth_about_IGE.php

IGE asked Themis to advise them how to become a legitimate part of the game industry. Right away, we had sharp disagreements with them on what legitimacy was, and how to get there. They felt they had a marketing problem, while we believed they had a business practices problem.

Because of this difference of opinion, our relationship ended, literally, one month after it began. The disagreements between us were substantial enough that we did not want to affiliate ourselves with them any further.

Our WarCry community told us very loudly not to do business with IGE but I was arrogant enough to believe that we could guide IGE into being a force for good. Suffice to say that I was wrong and WarCry's community was right.

Today, you will not find an RMT or gold-selling ad anywhere on any property we own, and we have no dealings with them or any related company whatsoever. Not one dollar, not one contract, nothing. Any suggestion or aspersion that we're "involved" with IGE or anyone else is simply false. I hope that's blunt and clear.

Kind regards,
Alexander Macris
President & CEO, Themis Group
Founder, WarCry Network

Why get refunds? The site content isn't being eliminated. You're consumers subscribing to a service, not investment shareholders.

I have not been able to read anything or any agreements made by becoming a premium member, yet. If you decide to cancel your premium member status and no longer recieve any of the services you paid for you should be entitled to the money you had prepaid for X amount of months ago.

If you're against what has happened and you happen to play FFXI
I suggest you stop using the AH.

Seriously, the player whose Astral Ring you just bought at the AH could be a gilseller.

So by using the AH you may be contributing to RMT.

Oh and please don't try saying that since you can't choose a seller at the AH that you are somehow free of responsibility because you aren't.

Umm, ok...while I do remember the sh1tstorm that was caused by IGN's jackassery, is this just a random interjection about another company's sellout?

Just to clarify, this thread and all consternation associated with it is tied to IGE, NOT IGN

You have told us what will happen with premium members. That they will get all sorts of new goodies.

Q: What will happen to the large majority of your populace who use free accounts? Will they soon have to pay to have access to the information they used to get for free? Even if you do plan to currently keep it this way, will they always have the same access they had before?

Please answer every part of this question, because I know you might keep things the same for a little while.

I would just assume since you are going to put a lot of time and money in to all these new features you will be adding, and linking up with the other IG... I mean RPG Holdings owned sites. So I am just thinking to stay somewhat profitable, and to be worth the money they paid for you, that having a majority of the people getting info for free would no longer be an option.

I very well may be wrong, this is just speculation, but I think all the non paying members deserve an answer to this question.

Turned off auto renew here as well.

You sold out, and worse, you kicked the people who supported your site for years in the nuts while doing it.

I'll miss what the site was, but it'll never be that again.
