When I was 18, my mom called me while I was away at college and told me she was sitting in a tattoo parlor, about to get a tattoo, and one of the girls she was with cancelled. She wanted to know if I wanted to get one, too. So I drove down and got a cute little tattoo of the silhouette of a fairy with these pretty, intricate butterfly wings sitting on a crescent moon. She had her hands on her knees, so there was a very small space between her body and her arm. There were a few stars around it. It was cute, and I loved it.

A fifteen years later, you can't really tell what it is. When I explain it, it becomes obvious. But the ink that was used back then tended to spread the older it got, so small spaces would fill in. So you could no longer distinguish between her body and her arm.

For a few years, I'd been thinking of trying to get it covered up. August this year, I finally did it. They did a brilliant job, you can't tell there is a tattoo under this one:

The butterfly has pretty sparkles around it because it didn't completely cover up all of the stars in the original, so the tattoo artist had to improvise. I think it's gorgeous.

After I got my coverup done, I thought getting a paw print would be cute... namely my dog's paw print. I figured it would mean something special to me, and paw prints are always "in style" if you will. So I tried a couple of times and finally got a decent print from Akira. I took it back to the tattoo parlor tonight and got my second tattoo of the year:

About four years ago, I got a tattoo on my back, and here's an old, not very good picture of it. The tattoo looks cute, this picture, not so much:

I got a tattoo of a skull with two M16s in place of the crossbones on my shoulder when I first joined. Recently (a little more than two years ago to be vaguely exact) I got one of my daughter's footprint over my heart.

I don't want anything huge, but that's freaking hilarious.

But... If I can't answer that problem in 30 seconds, does that mean I wouldn't be able to **********...?

I had a tattoo done many years back and over time the colors faded. I was told that that tends to happen. I'm about to go have it recolored and bring it back to what it used to be.

Ray has 3 tattoos. I have none by preference. He has my name tattooed on his bicep and has been trying to get me to get his name inked for the last 10 years. It's not happening.

I think the real question on everyone's mind is why did she neglect the Jacobian for that integration transformation from spherical to Cartesian. Where's the rho, Allegory, Where is the rho???

AN TATTOO

AN OTHER

Almost finished with an idea for a forearm sleeve on my left arm. Five armbands, one each the width of each word on my arm, and one full cuff from wrist to the end of the proverb. Don't know what the wristband will be yet, but for the four armbands, I want Jörmungandr curled in on himself in a knot, my favorite tarot card, the Hanged Man, a heart (icon or anatomic, I'm leaning toward anatomic) with a chaos star behind it (because my heart is the source of all the chaos in my life LAWL), and some crows on telephone wires.

Probably going to stick with all black and grey for my tattoos, because I never ever ever want to be getting dressed in the morning and think "uh oh, this shirt clashes with my tattoos."

More bird tattoos, huh.

I know a girl who has a bird tattoo on her head. It's actually awesome.

We already went over this too, and BT suggested that if I'm going to go with a LotR tattoo, I need to get "Speak friend, and enter," tattooed across my ***.

As long as it's in Elvish, this meets with my approval.

Really like the neck tattoo, NixNot. Did that hurt? I'm thinking of getting a small one on the back of my neck.

And I STILL want those pants...
#25 Oct 26 2011 at 6:25 PM Rating: Excellent
The only part that really hurt was the upper outside corners. That stung like a *****. People told me the spine would be murder, but it was actually less painful then the rest of the job. But man, those outside top edges... it was like being set on fire then put out with a baseball bat.

So it turned you on, then? Smiley: lol
