Anyone have any experience with this?

I've had this weird thing going on for the past couple of weeks:

Every 15-30 minutes, I get this heat sensation in the back of my right leg, mostly around my upper calf/back of knee, and sometimes a bit of my lower thigh. A cursory google search shows that it's a pretty common symptom, with most things pointing to nerve damage or a pinched nerve. That seems like the most likely culprit as far as I can tell...there's a strong chance that I injured myself during MMA, as my lower back and hips feel kinda tweaked. The other conditions that were suggested don't really seem to jive.

I don't know how I would have done it, or even know what pinching a nerve entails. All I know is that every so often it feels like the sun is beating hard on just my calf. There's no coloring or mark or anything like that.

Gonna try to see the doctor about it, but that won't be until Friday. Until then, please diagnose me with the weirdest condition that you can google.

Did you a fight a zombie during MMA? Because that means you need to be shot in the head.

Only time I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve I thought I was dying. I had an extremely painful feeling in my chest, a bit higher up than my heart. My left arm also went numb, and it was incredibly painful to breathe. It only happened twice; the first time I was with a friend, told her what was going on, and she called 911 (lulz). After getting to the ER the pain started to recede; by the time I was seen there wasn't anything left. They said they found nothing wrong with me, so it was probably a pinched nerve and I should go back if it acts up again.

About a month later I was walking to class when I had the same feeling. Made it to a bench where I sat for 20 minutes until the pain started to subside. I was pretty much unable to move the entire time, and just took short, shallow breaths and tried not to look like a crazy addict detoxing. That was all about 4 years ago, and nothing since.

Sounds like you have it better than I did, ha! Stay away from the zombie cats.

Isn't it odd that you got the feeling again when you were just walking? I don't know a damned thing about these things, but I woulda thought that you'd have to have some sort of mishap or something to cause the nerve to get pinched/damaged. Or is it something that, once injured, can just recur out of the blue?

I'll say! It's just a weird feeling, and mildly disconcerting, but nothing painful.

This'll show you something about me: I hadn't even thought anything of it until I casually mentioned it to my fiance and she flipped out and told me to see a doctor. Left to myself, I probably woulda just been like "Whelp, guess this is just something that my leg does now."

Sounds like your sciatic nerve. Mine is perma-pinched from my lower back injuries. It's not as bad now as it used to be, but I get pain in my right hip, back of my right thigh and shin, all the way into my ankle and toes (which are usually a bit numb). I don't get the hot sensation anymore though, so it should eventually go away with you. I live on Advil to take the swelling in my back down a tad so that my leg is functional. But if I sit, lay or stand in any one position for too long, it really starts screaming at me. And I can't remember the last time I slept longer than 6 hours straight, since if I lay on my right side, it really gets the pain going.

Good times, good times...

So after about two weeks now, the heat thing seems to be subsiding. Just felt it a couple times yesterday, and it hasn't happened yet today.

I'll go see the doc anyway, I think. It's been like 3 years since I had a physical, and I miss having an old dude cup my junk and ask me to cough.

I have pinched nerve in my right elbow that flares up now and then. It's just pain, no heat. My doctor told me to use naproxen sodium (aleve) because it's a great anti-inflammatory and it works wonders.

I can no longer take Aleve. That makes me sad.
