Since this thread is about ME:
Today, my boss(es) and I sat down and talked about my final day at work. Starting next week, I will be part time until Nov. 11th. I have worked at this place for 11 years, and my last day will be 11/11/11. Odd, no?
This evening, I booked my one-way flight to Hawaii. But it's not over just yet. At the end of February, the lease will be up in the tiny (tiny, tiny, tin) studio that my husband is renting. We need to find a bigger place, and one that accepts doggies. Then either I need to come back to TN to get Akira, or my mom needs to fly out to Hawaii with her.
But before any of that can happen, I need to find a job in Hawaii. We won't be able to afford a bigger place, let alone airfare to go get her, if I can't get a job.
CRAZY.
Today, my boss(es) and I sat down and talked about my final day at work. Starting next week, I will be part time until Nov. 11th. I have worked at this place for 11 years, and my last day will be 11/11/11. Odd, no?

Did you look into the "5 Days or Less" program for your dog? The alternative is 120 day quarantine.

Oh yes. We are well on our way to a direct release.
There's no way I'm going to have her quarantined in a random kennel. I'd feel like such a bad parent. She still technically has a 120 day quarantine, but she's spending it here in TN at my mom's house.
She just can't enter the state for up to 120 days after she has her Rabies FAVN test done, which she's already passed with flying colors. Technically, we can bring her in as early as 12/21/11, but that won't work with our current living situation.
