Or....something else?

Someone come up with another scientific explanation, then.

So, Bijou drinks a bit. While dozing after consuming...ermmmm, 1.5 pints of the goods he fell asleep. 3.5 hours later, as he awoke, he experienced the following:

About 3 minutes (I glanced briefly at the screen) of some of the most groovy (non-threatening, non-violent) hallucinations I have ever seen. (And I've done some wicked hal's in the past).

So...alcohol induced or borderline REM?

(Just FYI a pint and a half is pssshhhht to me).

I'm pretty sure these were REM unduced, as I was borederline concious, but....wow and damn...better than any LSD or shroom induced visuals.

ALSO: Yeah, I was drunk, but, not that damn drunk.

I've had some funky experiences on the very occasional times I've semi-woken up while still dreaming. Real life inputs into REM state are kind of cool, because once you wake up fully, you can trace the RL input, and then how it got interpreted into dream logic/imagery/narrative.

Except a phone you can never pick up, or an alarm you can never turn off, no matter how many houses and magical hedges you seek them in, are kinda annoying rather than fun. I once had the soundtrack of a movie on TV seep into a dream, which obligingly filled out it's own visuals, characters and narrative logic around the input "RL" script. Much more fun than the never-ending phone ring dreams.

Hope you are ok, Bijou!

I'm sorry to break it to you Bijou, but those are telltale signs of herpes. Herpes of the eyeballs.

At first I was like, "Jeez Ari, easy on the large font". Then I remembered who you were talking to. Smiley: bah

Bijou, what you're describing is a hypnopompic hallucination. That's really just a fancy word for a hallucination that occurs just after awakening. They occur when you come straight out of REM sleep, and are totally normal. Your brain was just trying to process the real-world information it suddenly started receiving and got mixed up with your dreams.

It certainly is useful have a medical student around here. Just don't go around writing CII scripts for the kiddies once they finally let you do that sort of thing.

Yeah, that. It was like rhe rapidly shifting and morphing animation sequences in The Wall or the peyote sequence from the Beavis and Butthead movie, only no blood and violence.
