A couple months ago me and my wife decided we need a new cars, my 2001 Corolla was looking a bit ratty and was going to need some engine work. She had no problems with her 04 RAV4 she just wanted something bigger. She knew right away that she wanted a Honda CRV. She ended up getting an EX-L trim full loaded, I cant stand how it drives but she is happy. For me it was a bit more difficult of a choice, I wanted a smaller car, kinda looked at Civics when we were looking at her CR-V and liked the way the CR-Z was designed, being a hybrid was kinda cool too but sadly no back seats. Checked out a few other cars, all kinda what I wanted but not exact. Two weeks ago I stepped into a MINI dealership to kinda humor my curiosity on a car that I have always had my eye on. One test drive and I was sold, or rather the car was. Thisis my new baby, Signed papers and drove her off the lot with a grand total of 8 miles on her.

My wife calls it "El Diablo Rojo" or something like that... I don't know my Spanish sucks. My best friend calls it "the rotting tomato" since it he says it looks like a tomato with mold on top. I just call it my go-cart on steroids.

The OP sounds like my father a few years ago. He was looking into buying a new car and was going more for Miles per gallon. Somewhere he found a mini he could test drive, loved it, made hour or so strip the the Mini Dealer and had one ordered. He doesn't like the split color most Minis have so his is special Smiley: rolleyes it is solid blue.
They are neat cars, even neater to get 4 people in there (the bigger they are, the better) to ride around. Nothing like seeing people pile out of a small car Smiley: laugh

There is a woman who frequents our dog park who has a mini with a Union Jack painted on the hood and two little Union Jacks on the backs of the side mirrors. I want to drive over the thing with a monster truck.

You must never have seen the old mini. The new mini is really not a small car at all.

If I had the money I'd get a mini cooper myself. They are built well and have a great record. I may soon have to break down and get one anyways the old beat up honda with 300k miles is dying.

I have to admit that I was hoping for that as well but I think the people in the OoT do not want to share it when they've just bought a new sextoy.

Not totally related, but we got a new Honda Fit for my wife early this year and I really have to say that thing is an incredible buy at 16k. The gas mileage is insane for a non-hybrid and with a manual transmission it's even kinda fun to drive. I'm 6'3 and have never fit in a car better in both the front and the back.

So if anyone's in the market, give one a shot.

New cars are fun. I've spent the last few months kicking around all sorts of ideas for next year when i plan to get something new.

I have a friend who bought the Fit a while back and he swears by his as well. He was shocked with the amount of space in it given it's size. And not just for people, but it's ability to compact and make space for cargo.

yeah it's basically a mini-minivan. very little space used up by the engine compartment, and being a hatchback theres no trunk obviously. The fuel tank is under the front seats, so the back is very low, giving you a tall cargo box. Very practical vehicle.

That's a myth; the easily explosive fuel tanks that is.

As for your sheet metal piercing farts, well, I pity your man.
