Bottle of booze I buy in three days when I turn 21? Recommendations?

/sentimental Wow, I can't believe most of the good OoT is still around. Making this thread made me realize I was posting here back when I got my driver's license, and even before that. I've hit a couple big milestones with you guys... It's been a long, good ride, OoT. Thank you.

One of my friends got a bottle of vodka that came in a glass crystal skull on his 21st. It's a pretty sweet container now for any of his beverages.

Certainly is, but I'm more referring to microbreweries.

They sell these at the liquor store next door to where I work. It's at the top of my list right now.

I'd just buy a bunch of little bottles of different stuff. Those little one shot things that they have in hotels and on airplanes. That way you can play around. Unless you are looking for something high end and memorable, in which case, I would have no idea.

There's Rochefort Trappistes 10. It's got a kind of fruit/spice taste to it.

Crown Royal, the kind that comes in the pretty velvet bag. Then you can stick stuff in the bag and keep it forever, and go, "Yeah that bag was from my very first legal booze" to anyone who asks you about it.

I use my Crown Royal bag to hold my golf tees in my golf bag. It wasn't from my first legal booze, though.

Codyy, go buy yourself something that will age well and save it for a special occasion when you're older. And right after that, you can buy me a beer.

Crown or Patron. Crown is cheaper but still classy. Both are delicious.

Midori and Sour.

Or, for extra bonus ***** points, go to a bar and order a Sloe Comfortable *****. (Sloe gin, Southern Comfort, Orange Juice)

Or, for extra bonus LOLOMGFAG points, order a Sloe Comfortable ***** Up Against the Wall with Three Fingers. I forget what all is in that one, because I'm not that gay.

I suggest a bottle of high quality sake and enjoying with a good friend over a nice dinner.
It's best to make the first day of being able to drink memorable in a nice way. Not Getting
totally wasted, raped and then barfing all over your bed.

Bottles/sh*t to keep : Skull vodka, Crown royal (bag), or eyes of the village tequila (silver teq is shaped like a 47 magnum, and gold teq is shaped like a colt 45. tons of fun to pretend shoot with your bottles as you get wasted)

It honestly depends on the venue for actual taste booze. Some easy shots are SoCo with a lime chaser, you barely get any after taste except lime. Mixed, I like 7n7s, *** fruity vodka martinis, and a good ol' magarita.

I don't recommend cordials or anything chocolate (altough do try a white Russian with amurala in place of the kaluha, TLW recommends it as well) or the like based for getting trashed your first time. The milk/nut base will eventually start to hate on your stomach, and when you are liquored up it is trouble.

Last but not least, delicious beer. Stone makes a pretty wide range (from IPA to browner than black stouts) and they come in good "try it" sized bottles. 3+ of those should get you feelin' right.

Also, make sure to get totally wasted, raped and then barf all over their bed.

People keep alcohol long enough for it to age? I'll have to look into this.

Don't make the mistake of getting something not intended to age - my husband bought a bottle of 1996 Dorico with the intention of drinking it when he finished his PhD. That turned out to be 2008. It was vinegar long before then.

I'd suggest cognac, myself. Then use it to make this because drinking while lighting things on fire is a rite of passage.

My friends told me what they wanted with the caveat that I had to go to a different liquor store for each purchase (they paid for what they wanted). It was actually quite fun.

This, if you can get it. Rochefort 10 is absolutely amazing beer.
Also Duvel, Gulden Draak and any and all trappist beers you can get your hands on.
I sadly can't recommend anything american as the good american beers are very hard to get here. Smiley: frown
